View Full Version : soaps you wish would come back
Thanks to work I dont get a chance to watch the current soaps but I do remember watching them back in the 80s and even before that.
Anybody remembers...
Capitol
Love of Life
Somerset
Where the Heart is
The Rituals ( the movie star from Gilligan was on that one from 1985 )
The Secret Storm ( sometimes you cn hear Johnny Olson promote it on Match Game reruns on GSN )
General Hospital ( BEFORE Luke & Laura )
How to Survive a Marriage
and last but not least the long defunct religious soap Another Life.
Many well known stars got their start doing soaps. Hard to believe but Don Knotts did As the World Turns.

mandy starr 12-19-2001, 05:01 PM Knots Landing was my fav nighttime soap of recent + never missed an episode but I also watched diligently the first nighttime soap...Peyton Place!! And I loved Secret Storm, have been trying to find someone who has the last year or 2 + the finale on tape but no one seems to. I didn't have a vcr when it went off so I did the next best thing + taped the final episode on my reel-to-reel tape recorder (still have it someplace). Ah, fond memories of Amy + Kevin + Belle + Dan + Lauri + Mark!
SicilianGecco 01-03-2002, 05:27 PM Santa Barbara started after I'd sworn off soaps but, with A Martinez, I HAD to check it out and - sure 'nough - I got hooked. I thought the actress who played Eden (Marcy Walker, I think) deserved an award for her breakdown scene. I actually checked the listings when our cable company added the Soap Channel...if SB was listed, I'd probably watch it again.

ClassicTV4Ever 05-11-2003, 11:57 AM They should never have canned "Another World" for "Sunset Beach" or "Passions." They could have just added them on.
I would have liked to have seen "The Edge of Night." It sounds like it was really really good.
