Hey, I was just wondering. Do you think the DVD and VHS releases of TV Shows should fallow the same rules and guidelines as Movies?

I read several posts on here and other message boards talking about some studios using syndicated prints and music replacements for their DVD releases because they can't get the rights for the originals.

When you buy a movie from a store your usually getting it the way it was seen in theaters and they sometimes include theateracle material on the disks for the movie. Should this be the same thing for TV Shows?

Take the movie "Shrek" for example. When you buy Shrek from the store or rent it your getting the whole thing and not just the chopped up much shorter version of the movie you'd see on TV. No your getting the original theateracle version which is the full movie.

How come most shows can't fallow these same guidelines as well movies like Shrek or any other? Most people who buy their favorite shows on DVD expect it to be the original broadcast versions and not the much shorter edited syndicated versions or with music replacements. Please let me know. Thanks.
