I was surprised to hear that Richard was 26 years old in the first season of this show. Patty was 16 and he was 26. WOWEE........

On the show or in real life? (I've never seen TPDS, so pardon my ignorance.)

He said he was 26 at the time this show aired. On the show he was going to High School with Patty. He was probably playing like he was 17.

...wasn't the only one to act like a "high school kid" on TV while in his mid-'20s. Richard Crenna appeared as "Walter Denton" on "OUR MISS BROOKS" when it began as a radio show in 1948. He continued to appear as Walter when the series started its TV run in 1952 {while continuing on radio, through 1956}- and he was almost 26 when he first turned up on TV, the previous February, with Janet "Corliss Archer" Waldo [she was also in her twenties, starring on radio's "MEET CORLISS ARCHER" at the time] in the "I LOVE LUCY" episode, "The Young Fans". But they could get away with playing "teenagers" because they were convincing enough...and Dick Crenna became "Luke McCoy"- a more "grown-up" role- several years in the future.

Not to mention the "Kotter" kids.

Wow, didn't know that. He didn't look that much older than she was. On Lizzie McGuire (love that show... it's so cute!), she said "When I get to my thirties I can play a teenager on Dawson's Creek!" Not the exact quote, but I thought that was pretty funny!
