View Full Version : Line up dummy - Black Friday is here
Pitooey 11-27-2009, 08:45 AM Yup............
My hubby and I went out at 5:30 in the morning and we lined up for some special sales on computers. We we freezing but we waited. The lines were so long. Finally we get into the store and there is a humongous line of like 300 people just to see the computers.
We got disgusted and left the store... :thumbsdow
So we decided to go to Target............ People were lining up their carts with stuff but there really wasn't any sales. The lines were all the way to the back to pay for the items. So me and hubby went around to see the electronics. Another long, long line. We felt like dummies. We ran out.
We have gone out before on Black Fridays and gotten some good deals over the years but today it was just too much. What for??? To save pennies??
Times sure have changed............

comedyfreak 11-27-2009, 10:53 AM You went out too late, lol. I get too easily aggrivated in shopping crowds so I decided to stay home. I may go Sunday.
catlover79 11-27-2009, 02:16 PM "Line up, dummy"...sounds like something Fred Sanford would say to Lamont.
OH Nuts! 11-27-2009, 02:32 PM Well I got sort of lucky - I got to J.C. Penney at 10 of 6 & it wasn't bad but by 7:10 am it was a zoo @ macy's & Old Navy. Didn't even try Target cause it was cross the river and I'm sure the $3 toasters were long gone. For computer stuff though I would think it would be much much worse.
I've come to the conclusion that you can have sometimes have luck w Black Fri IF you start right at the VERY BEGINNING - had I got to JCP at 5am sharp I might have been able to squeeze Target in.
MickeyMac 11-27-2009, 05:06 PM I thought Black Friday was a holiday, so I stayed in bed today. :D

You Black Friday Shoppers are more braver than me!
Schmoopie 11-28-2009, 03:48 AM I would never get up that early to go shopping, because you know that closer to Christmas the deals are going to get better and better. By the way, I just heard about this on the news. Talk about devotion!!

Hey, due to my love of Motown and other R&B music, as well as shows like S&S, Good Times and The Jeffersons, I've been called by several black people I used to work with an honorary sister. So, there you go.

DITTO!!
Schmoopie 11-30-2009, 04:24 AM Black Friday really undermines the Thanksgiving Holiday. I mean, besides football (which is a Thanksgiving tradition), all you ever see are ads for stuff going on sale the next day. Black Friday is a whole month before Christmas and to me it would make more sense to have a "black Saturday" (although I hate the term 'black' even though I know what it means in retail lingo), right before Christmas. That's when most people are going to do their shopping anyway.
