Hey, I was just wondering. What did you all think of the colorized version of the I Love Lucy episode "Lucy Goes To Scotland"?
Just a few nights ago I watched the colorized version of the episode that was on the bonus disk from the Complete Series boxset. I think the episode look pretty good in color. I think they should colorize the rest of the series and recolorize the Christmas special and not just the wrap around segments this time. The whole episode.
"Lucy Goes To Scotland" looked really good in color the set, costumes, Lucy's hair, and everything. I also, watched the Christmas special in color which where the wrap around segments and for the time it was colorized it didn't look to bad. Sure the technology for colorizing has improved a lot and you can actually tell in the the two episodes if you compair the colors in them. Lucy Goes To Scotland may look a bit better in color then the original colorized version of the Christmas special.
What do you all think of Lucy Goes To Scotland in color? Maybe if the colorized rest of the series they could even reintroduce it to syndication in color. Lot of people today expecually the younger generation are probably turned off of ILL because it's in black and white.
Sure the show was filmed in black and white and thats part of the shows charm and stuff. But, someone once told me going back to black and white is like going back to the horse and buggy. Also, if the colorize ILL and the first seaon of "The Lucy Show" they could bring new audiences to the shows.
For the DVD's they could rerelease the series and the first season of TLS in a colorized version and give people to ability to buy either the colored version or the original black and white version that way everyone would be happy.
What they could do for colorizing the set for the Mertz apartment building is use the recreated set from the Lucy museum as a reference as well as the hotel they stayed in when they went to California. Also, I Love Lucy could even have a whole new life in color. If they do the rest of the series like the did the Scotland episode if would look pretty good. For me it looks as natural as they could get it with the current colorizing technology. Also, they would just do colorizing of some copies they make of the episodes they'd have to keep the original black and white versions to.
Please tell me what you think of this and what you thought of the scotland episode in color. Thanks.
