Will 09-25-2001, 10:30 PM Hill Street Blues was another solid police series! dawsongirl 10-02-2001, 02:00 PM Originally posted by Will: I liked Adam-12 also! That is the all-time best, IMO!!!!!! 1-Adam-12, a 211 in progress, handle code 3... Dragnet's not to shabby either. Gotta love those Jack Webb shows! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 04-19-2002, 11:10 PM I love Adam-12!! Kent McCord was a hottie!!;) Anthony33 06-17-2002, 10:12 PM Even though it only lasted six episodes, definitely for me it's Police Squad!, which resulted in the Naked Gun movies. It was a takeoff on those old Quinn Martin crime dramas, where you'd see on the screen Act I, Act II, Act III, Act IV, and then at the end Epilog after they came back from commercials. They also had a great time poking fun at the freaaze frame they used to do at the end of dramatic shows back then, instead electing to have the actors just stand still. Sometimes one of them would be moving though. It had the kind of clever sight gags and puns that the same production crew did in movies like Airplane, The Naked Gun, and Hotshots. Since it was just a half hour show, there were only two acts and there'd be some kind of joke like "Act 2, Yankees One" after the first half. I Dream of Jeannie 06-17-2002, 11:27 PM Adam-12. I agree Kent was a total hottie!!!!!!!!!! JT 06-18-2002, 05:25 PM The top four best were definatly: 1) Cagney & Lacey (1982-88) I don't understand how this masterpeice was underrated because of Hill Street Blues. HSB is good and all, but Christine Cagney and Mary Beth Lacey were masters at the craft. They were two policewomen you didn't want to pick a bone with. 2) The Rookies (1972-76) Another underrated one. I'm very glad TVLand brought it back. All of the actors do their parts to perfection, especially Kate Jackson and Micheal Ontkean. 3) Adam-12 (1968-75) Kent McCord and Martin Milner were just fabulous as Reed and Malloy. I like the way the usual Jack Webb humor was thrown in too. 4) Dragnet (1967-70) I never saw the original series, but I heard it's better than this one, but since I looooooooove this one, I know the original must be great too. dawsongirl 06-19-2002, 11:31 PM Originally posted by gbscott1954 I like Adam-12 because Malloy and Reed are true professionals who do not act like the police officers on NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, or Homicide act. They are ideal police officers who are a good example for young men and women who are now becoming police officers, especially in light of 9/11. Yeah, and so what does TV Land do? Lose the contract and the show is no more. Shows how much America still loves cops huh? I Dream of Jeannie 06-20-2002, 08:08 AM I had heard about Adam-12 from one of my friends and was going to start watching it to see what it was about and stuff and then I found out that it doesn't even come on anymore. That kinda made me:o ! Ewan's My Man 06-20-2002, 04:26 PM ...The Division... TJL 06-20-2002, 05:02 PM "Homicide - Life On The Street" TJL 06-20-2002, 07:24 PM Oh c'mon now! "Homicide" was a great show. Much better than "NYPD Blue." dawsongirl 06-21-2002, 01:45 PM Originally posted by I Dream of Jeannie Forever I had heard about Adam-12 from one of my friends and was going to start watching it to see what it was about and stuff and then I found out that it doesn't even come on anymore. Hill Street Blues I think in terms of writing, I have yet to see any Police show come close to matching Hill Street Blues. I believe it was the winner of 8 Emmys, during its first season alone. 28 total Emmys 2. The Mod Squad I also loved the Mod Squad, it was a hard hitting series for the early 70s, because it dealt with many of the society's social ills. Plus in my opinion, there has never been a cooler cop than Lincoln Hayes. This show was Solid! 3. Baretta A unique street cop with a pet bird, that show was also very well written. BonniesLilCutiePie 08-04-2002, 02:26 AM The Division and charlie's Angels! |
