Just watched this episode, again. Just wondering if there's been any updates. I looked online and couldn't find a single thing even mentioning her other than videos of the episode. It was the one where a body of a woman in her late teens or early twenties was found near a river or lake in 1971. A later autopsy said that she'd given birth to at least one child.:(

I've tried several possible ways of spelling "Panosokee," as well. Nothing seems to come up.

I am posting this doenetwork link to this thread, which documents Little Miss Panasoffkee's case. Her story was very sad, and I hope that one day it may be known who she is, and where she came from. I can't believe it is almost 40 years since she passed away.

Thank you. It's incredibly sad that something hasn't come out. You'd think that in 40 years, someone; a parent, a friend, a sibling; someone would have come forward and said "Hey, so and so is missing." It's unfortunate for her child/children, never knowing their mother.

Maybe the reason why she hasn't been identified is because the family is looking in their state and nearby ones, and where she was found was far away and they never thought to look that far for her. Because with all the dental work (not cheap!) she must have been cared for and loved at some point in her life and I am sure there are people out there wondering where she is.

I wonder if she was involved in the sex trafficking business. She could be from a foreign country, even. That would explain why she hasn't been identified and why she had the dental care, if she was being "cared" for. Then again, I don't know many sex slaves with good dental work. Just something that popped into my head.

Good dental work and surgery indicates a degree of wealth. She was not impoverished. She came from a family that was well off.

Makes it curious that such a family would not be actively looking for her and could not match her to the person they were looking for.

Makes me think that the family is not that interested in finding her. Perhaps the child out of wedlock has to do something with that.

Didn't this woman have a unique kind of ankle surgery? The doctor interviewed in the segment said that the doctor who performed this surgery would recognize it. It was a wire going through the ankle bone and the wire was looped a certain way. I thought that was interesting.

Yes.

You would think such a surgery would be remembered by a doctor or doctor's office. There can't be that many hospitals in the area that could perform that surgery or had a surgeon that specialized in surgery of that type. We even have an estimated time period for when this surgery would take place. Very puzzling.

1. Perhaps her father was a doctor himself.(though it's rare that a doctor does surgery on his own family).

3. While she was a US citizen, perhaps the surgery occurred out of the country

2. The family still has to explain what happened to their daughter. She has to be reported as missing. The parents may not want to identify the body, but other people might.

3. If she has siblings, would the siblings be as callous to not identify the remains?

4. You also have to consider her child might be alive and looking for her mother. He/She might be able to identify her remains, even though he/she never knew the mother.

Reasons 2, 3, and 4 are the reasons I'm still pretty surprised this case has not had ANY developments.:(

Maybe she was an orphan or a runaway. If she had already given birth to a child, she may have been far removed from her family for several years and was living out of state. It's sad that after all the work that detective did, no one was able to come forward to claim her.

Considering her age, dental work and surgery, she couldn't have been away from her parents that long. Unless she ran away with a wealthy individual..

Her dental work and surgery rule that out her being an orphan. Someone paid a lot of money to take care of this young lady.

If she was a runaway, someone from a family that was well off would be looking for her....unless they themselves killed her.

It is important to remember her that this person was murdered.

This is a murder investigation not an ID case. Finding the killer and putting him to justice is the ultimate priority. Her identification is a means to finding the killer.
