Specials & Marathons

-Glenn Martin, DDS
Premiered Monday, August 17, 2009
Regular Time-Spot Mondays at 8PM
Glenn Martin, DDS is the first television production to come out of Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation Company. The original stop-motion animated series follows the life of Glenn Martin (Kevin Nealon), who yearns for a change of scenery and a deeper connection with his family. Determined to bring the family closer together, Glenn takes the Martins on a road trip to protest the destruction of a beloved childhood park. As things unravel right from the get-go, the family is forced to make the dental-mobile – replete with a giant decorative toothbrush on the roof – their new home. Glenn, Jackie (Catherine O’Hara) and Courtney (Jackie Clarke) – an 11-year-old future corporate maven who brings along her personal assistant, Wendy (Judy Greer), a 14-year-old North Korean exile – and son, Conor (Peter Oldring), the 13-year-old hormone-addled tween who’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed--quickly learn when hitting the road that the road can sometimes hit back in unexpected ways. The Martins are accompanied on their journey by the family dog, Canine, who’s pronounced buttocks only add to the hilarity.

New episode:
Monday, December 7, at 8:00 p.m. - Glenn Martin, DDS #115 "Obama-Nation"
Glenn experiences a crisis of confidence when Courtney writes an essay citing Millard Fillmore as the person she admires most (and not an essay about her father). After President Obama praises Glenn as a prototypical American, Glenn’s status rises in his daughter’s eyes, until he blows it by upstaging her big moment.

* Sunday, December 13, 2009 -- 8pm-10pm Men in Black II (Premiere)
Four years after the alien-seeking agents Jay and Kay (Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith) averted an intergalactic disaster, Kay has returned to the comforts of civilian life while Jay has taken over his former partner's role as the most annoyingly efficient employee of the unofficial government agency that regulates all things alien on Earth. While investigating a seemingly routine alien-on-alien crime, Jay uncovers a diabolical plot masterminded by Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle), an evil monster disguised as a sexy lingerie model, and her two-headed, half-witted accomplice, Scrad/Charlie (Johnny Knoxville). When Serleena takes the entire MIB building hostage, Jay can only turn to the retired Kay, whose expertise represents the universe's last best hope to avert ultimate destruction.
* Sunday, December 20, 2009 -- 8pm-10pm Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh (R)

Since Monday, Family Matters is now fully 6-7am on weekdays. It will remain 6-7am on Saturdays, too. More on the blog in about an hour.

This is technically for January (I'll release that month fully next week), but there are overnight changes starting Thursday, December 31:

Effective Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 (early Jan. 1):
Every Night
2:00am & 2:30am Everybody Hates Chris (replace Roseanne)
3:00am & 3:30am The Cosby Show (replace Roseanne)
4:00am & 4:30am The Cosby Show (replace Roseanne)
5:00am & 5:30am Family Matters (replace Roseanne)

Family Matters remains in the 6am hour as well. Roseanne leaves, while The Cosby Show returns.

TV Land airs The Cosby Show from 2am-3:30am on weeknights (followed by Three's Company from 3:30-5a). Starting in February Cosby Show will be 2-3am only, as Roseanne takes 3-4am (Three's Company is 4-5am now as a result). Maye this will start in January now because of the late change Cosby Show addition to Nick at Nite.

Seems like a very random change, especially since The Cosby Show (simply based on age) doesn't really fit on NAN anymore. But, when airing with Everybody Hates Chris and Family Matters, it does fit, very well actually. Still, to take Roseanne off completely like that seems odd, since TV Land is only airing it 3-4am.

No, TV Land is airing it from 11pm-1am as well, but that will be reduced to 12-1am by Feb. 15.

Wow, The Cosby Show returning. It and Roseanne obviously still have a pulse on Nick at Nite. I wouldn't be surprised if Roseanne comes back to NAN.

Yeah, I find it strange how they have decided, recently, to resurrect Roseanne and now Cosby Show. I think they both premiered around 2003 (2002-2004) and left a couple years ago but are now sneaking their way back into latenight airings.

If they're willing to air those two, why not at least DO SOMETHING with Growing Pains (even simply for the fact that they are still technically paying to air the show yet haven't done so in 2 years). How long does that contract last, Pav?

The Disney Channel's "Eloise at Christmas Time" (8-9:40PM ET) and Nick at Nite's "Malcolm in the Middle" (8-8:30PM ET) were tied as cable's top-rated primetime (8-11pm) programs Wednesday (Dec. 23) night, with both posting a 1.7 HH rating.

I guess SpongeBob did big on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Haha, that's interesting. Either Malcolm is quietly doing well at 8pm, or like you said, for some reason, it's lead-in (Spongebob) did well and the audience poured over into 8pm.
