and regardless of the actual shows that were airing in either year, what made N@N special back then and all through the 1990s was how intentional they were about what they were airing from creative and unique programming specials (the many marathons, Block Party Summers, Classic TV Countdowns, etc) to the commercials and bumpers they had back then. Now they aren't so creative nor do they show the type of devotion to what they're doing

After seeing that schedule I would choose N@N 2009 since I have no interest in the shows on that schedule from 89. 1989 was a beuatiful year but not for N@N-lol

Althought I can do without SCTV and Saturday Night Live, this is a classic line up back when Nick at Nike was so good. This station sucks balls now.

Based on the shows, 2009. But based on the network, 1989. They were much more authentic and original back then with how they ran things. The commercials, the bumpers, the promos, the jingles, and the programming blocks were far better than they are now. Today, NAN is just another cable network - nothing specal about it.

Heck, just think of how good N@N could be if they'd move away from just airing the same six to eight shows from two to six times per night.

LOL, as much as I do love 50s-80s TV, I have to say that the 90s are what grabbed my attention the most. And, they're what make up the majority of my DVD collection.

Some of the posters must be different ages. I looked at the line up of 89 and only 2-3 I didn't/wouldn't watch. And they appeared to be 80's shows. 1980's shows shown in 1989 aren't in my mind too old. I'll take the 50's and 60's shows any day. Most of the 1980's shows, well I should a lot of them were teen type shows which were too young for me. I wished the 89 lineup nick at nite had would come back. I miss those old shows.

I miss the good ol' days of Nick at Nite. That was my favorite channel back then and everyone is right. There was something special about the channel then. Now it's like they just pop in a disc and hit the "play all" and that's their lineup.

It also helps that I love all those shows from 1989 and hate most of the shows on the 2009 lineup (yes I loathe George Lopez and The Nanny).

And MickeyMac, I agree with you 100%! The 1960s was the best decade for sitcoms, heck all of television in general. The 1980s were *okay*, and I certainly love some of them. But that decade for the most part sucked.

Nick at Nite was authentic back then. You couldn't find another channel like it (until TV Land came along, lol). Now it's just a run of the mill channel as bad as all the other channels out there. It's a shame. A pure shame.
