View Full Version : What Jobs Would You Not Want To Do
MickeyMac 11-17-2009, 11:42 AM Cleaning certain places. I dont mean like an office or something like that, but cleaning apartments, residents, hospitals, nursing homes and the like. I have done that and cant do that again. Its amazing how disgusting some people are puke:
Factory work: Been doing that for 8 years, and cant do it anymore. I dont have the mentality for it.
Waterston_Fan 11-17-2009, 11:45 AM Being a waitress since I think that's the toughest job.
EDIT: I have done this at my job and got more hours for it.... Cleaning as well, but it was bathrooms... Amazing how people are so messy and gross..
Now I am a customer service associate and get little to no hours.. GO FIGURE!! :(
catlover79 11-17-2009, 12:29 PM Bus driver - especially a school bus driver!!!     Years ago, when I worked the box office of a movie theater, two school bus drivers came in to see a show (I think it was a school holiday). The first thing I said to them was, "God bless you - I know I couldn't do it!"
comedyfreak 11-17-2009, 01:15 PM A gardner, too much work. I hated doing yardwork as a kid and I wouldn't want to do it for a living.
waichingliu81 11-17-2009, 01:43 PM -cleaning toilets
-working at a fast food joint serving burgers, fried chicken & fries
- anything which involves having knowledge in a particular area that i don't possess, or know anything about
- being a prostitute: hell to the no!
phoebe7165 11-17-2009, 04:03 PM Being a waitress since I think that's the toughest job.
Same here. I'd probably end up dumping somebody's food in their lap, not from being clumsy, but because they complained!!:D
OH Nuts! 11-17-2009, 04:42 PM There are some jobs I WOULD NEVER DO even for 5 million dollars!
*Air traffic controller, branch manager of a bank, cleaning the lion cage, having to be around wild animals, having to be around foul smelling animals (like descented skunks) - these are for starters
MrCleveland 11-17-2009, 07:06 PM Washing dishes.
But since I'm desperate for a 2nd job...I may have no other choice.
Marvo301 11-17-2009, 07:21 PM I don't want to work in customer service anymore. The public can be very unforgiving, they rarely show gratitude, and they can be absolutely disgusting and guess who has to clean up after them? And on top of all that the pay is lousy and the benefits often non-existent.

I hear ya, Marv, and I whole-heartedly agree. Working with the general public pretty much sucks(read my previous post!). It's amazing what a-holes people can be, that why when I'm on the customer-side of the counter, I'm very courteous. That is, unless, the person waiting on me is rude, when I could not have been nicer, then I call them on it.
MickeyMac 11-17-2009, 08:05 PM I forgot about fast food. No way. Been there, done that, never again.

That is where I dealt with the majority of the a-hole general public. I was a manager for a time at BK, and you deal with those customers more than if you were just a regular employee.
I've been called the b-word and the c-word, and I've been told to f-off.

You can add inside/outside phone sales to that, too!! Most of the people I dealt with were nice (or at least tolerable) but the sheer call volume can do serious damage to your vocal cords.
Retro4Life 11-17-2009, 10:43 PM I never say I WOULDN'T do a job because you never know what life will force you to do to survive, but I will say that I absolutely would NEVER want to work with the public, in any way.
They are indeed, often cruel and insulting and if you are in such a position you pretty much have to sit there and take it.
I also don't think I'd do well with the medical profession. The incredible responsibility that entails (on most jobs, if you screw up, the company might lose some money; in the medical world, if you screw up, someone might die) would probably overwhelm me.
Also, anything to do with food. I am all for eating, but I want no part of the preparation process. I've heard some absolute horror stories from guys who worked in slaughterhouses. :barf: :shocked
comedyfreak 11-18-2009, 06:48 AM I have worked in retail before, back in the late 90's I worked at Super K-Mart and it was not bad. I had more problems from management than from the customers. I actually got pretty fast at ringing people up.
The Great One 11-18-2009, 04:56 PM I would hate to be a window washer for the Sears Tower!
phoebe7165 11-19-2009, 04:38 PM I would hate to be a window washer for the Sears Tower!
Or do any kind of construction where you're high up!!
The Great One 11-19-2009, 06:30 PM Or do any kind of construction where you're high up!!
That's for sure!!!
OH Nuts! 11-19-2009, 11:23 PM I would hate to be a window washer for the Sears Tower!
Yes you can definitely add this one to my list! (I'd be petrified)
Tubehead 11-19-2009, 11:38 PM i USEED TO clean at camp. only reason i like it they let me listen to my music when i worked. it was ok job. i hated baging grocers for summer job i wouldn't wontto be a nanny or work for the zoo. i couldn'tbe a teacher. if i was iwould teach high shcool or collage. i couldn't stand little kids.they would drive me crazy.
MickeyMac 11-21-2009, 02:03 PM Some of my friends work at various group homes for people who have a variety of health and mental issues. One of the things they have to do is sometimes help people in and out of the bathroom, including clean up. A friend once told me when he got to work at one of the homes one of the clients went to the bathroom and made a mess. Human feces all over the toiltet, walls, and floors, and my friend had to clean it up.
I understand that these people cant help themselves, but I dont think I could do this kind of work.
