Anyone remember a Japanese cartoon from the 60s titled "The Eighth Man?" It was about this super hero robot named Tobor. The one thing I remember about the show was the theme song that had the line "Call Tobor, The Eight Man."

I grew up watching "8TH MAN" when it first appeared on New York's WPIX every week in 1965-'66 (then they aired repeats every weekday and Sunday mornings ,through 1968; that gives you some idea of how old I am). It was "adapted" from a 52 episode 1963-'64 Japanese cartoon series {"8 MAN"} by producer Joe Oriolo and distributor ABC Films [obviously cashing in on the popularity of Osamu Tezuka's "ASTRO BOY" {"TETSUWAN ATOM"}, successfully translated for American audiences two years before], using an unknown voice-over cast for the English soundtrack, a new animated title (also used as the closing title- no credits) with Ralph Bakshi as lead animator, and a new "American" theme composed by Winston Sharples [who also wrote the theme for Oriolo's "FELIX THE CAT"]. Of course, the original characters' names were also "adapted" for American audiences: "Peter Brady" (aka "Tobor"), "Chief Fumblethumbs", "Jenny Hartsweet", and so on.

Several episodes are available on cheap "dollar DVD"'s....
