I mentioned a time in which an under-cover detective was embarrassed not to say, "if you're still interested in that drive along the beach, I get off duty at eleven!" What a decent babe! In any event, the main theme of the episode was a corrupt building inspector asking Jack for a bride. The bribe was to for him to overlook the fact that regulations for the bathroom cealings were eight feet and his were only seven feet eleven and a half inches. Now clearly, to have the cealing raised a half an inch would cost a lot more than the hundred dollars that the man was asking for. So he was in a situation in which he had to decide the lessor of two evils. Being closed down or forking up a hundred. It was Janet who had the idea of recording Jack's interactions with the man and bringing the evidence to the police. However, what was never really dealt with was the fact that, even after the man is caught, we are still left with half an inch worth of violation. I guess that what we are supposed to think is that the fact that the cealings are too low will be lost in the shuffle in among all of the commotion. Maybe you could even make a case that being excussed for that half inch was Jack's reward from bringing a corrupt city employee to justice. Any thoughts anyone?

There was nothing wrong with the height of the celings which is why he was trying to get a bribe.

It is my understanding that the celings were, in fact half an inch lower than regulations. Therefore, if you what to live by the letter of the law, there was a health and safety voilation. The bride was for the man not to report this violation. Clearly, using his position to make money under the table was a far bigger violation than a half an inch. It was because of this, that Jack, with Janet's help was able to bring the man to justice and have him arrested. However, when it came time to arrest the man, it seemed as if that half an inch was long forgotten. This is why I came up with the theory that being excused for that half inch was the city's way of regarding Jack from brining a corruped employee to justice.
