The ending theme song of Chico and the Man was posted at televisiontunes.com after being a very difficult to find TV theme song. It has the following lyrics:
Announcer: Chico and the Man was recorded live before a studio audience at NBC Studios, Burbank, California.
Chico was born in el barrio
Spent much of his time in the street
His mind was crazy for knowledge
His belly for something to eat
Times are hard
Chico and the Man
Times are hard
Chico and the Man
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby
It's all right
i sure wish they'd bring that show back on TV I miss it. Thanks for the lyrics

Thanks for posting those lyrics....and I'm with you Joy...I so wish they would bring back Chico and the Man so Freddie could have a new and younger fan base. I think he could be popular all over again. The show was great.

About 10 years ago, I emailed Jose Feliciano about the lyrics to the closing theme of Chico and the Man. His lovely and gracious wife replied...and it was "his mind was craving for knowledge". Unfortunately, our computer suffered a fatal breakdown shortly thereafter and I lost the email...but I'll swear on a stack of Classic TV Sitcoms DVDs that it's "craving" and not "crazy"!

^^Wow, didn't realise that. I always thought the lyric was, "His mind was crazy for knowledge", and some other sources have the lyric as, "His mind was thirsty for knowledge". How could I have been so stupid to misunderstand it as "crazy" all this time?
Welcome to the forum.

Hey...don't feel bad! I was confused about some of the lyrics myself...which is why I went to the horse's mouth (so to speak)! Jose's wife was totally cool with my asking for the lyrics, so I have to assume it's been asked many times before!:talk:

wasn't "the announcer" Freddie Prinze? It sounds like him to me.

I know this is from six years ago, but I just watched the closing credits on That Other Site, and yes, I think it was Freddie.

There's a few episodes on Daily Motion which have Prinze announcing it though I remember watching a Christmas episode with Chico still alive with Jack Albertson announcing.
