View Full Version : Brady Bunch Visits ABC GrowingPainsVault 11-07-2009, 07:14 PM "THE BRADY BUNCH VISITS ABC" Does anyone know any details about this special from 1971? I'm very interested!!! Smartboy 11-07-2009, 10:13 PM I am curious as to the title "The Brady Bunch 'Visits" ABC". It is my understanding that the show originally aired on that network and in 1971, it was still being shown as a prime-time show. Dose anyone know what the people who titled the specail meant when they used the word visit? GrowingPainsVault 11-08-2009, 12:41 AM It was a special of the Bradys. The Jackson 5 were at the studio making their Goin' Back To Indiana special. They were both taping at the same time. The Jackson 5 were said to make a cameo on there. I was wondering if anyone knew about this or had it. The J5 were promoting their cartoon and their upcoming ABC special Goin' Back To Indiana. treky 11-08-2009, 01:12 AM well, from what I remember of it; the plot had the Brady kids visiting ABC for something and it was a special where ABC promoted their saturday morning line-up. (back then the networks used to have prime time specials to promote their fall lineup) That's all I remember of it. Oh yea, it just had the kids; in fact the opening scene showed them waving goodbye to their parents. Also, it aired on a Friday night. Do you remember any cameo by the Jackson 5? or anything else about it, like how long it was or anything else they talked about?? I'm especially interested in the cameo by the J5. treky 11-08-2009, 01:39 AM I think it was an hour, and it probably aired in "THE BRADY BUNCH" time slot, which was friday night at 8 eastern time (well, duh! It wouldn't air at 8 in the morning!!!   ) I remember at one point Bobby and either Cindy or Jan got lost and watched a preview of some ABC cartoon-but that's all I remember. I don't remember the J5 on it, either. GrowingPainsVault 11-08-2009, 02:18 AM I've got a few pictures of the J5 meeting them backstage and a picture of Maureen infront of a big wall of the J5 in the background. I'll post em in just a bit! Maybe they'll jog a memory. I was hoping this would jog someone's Brady memory :) GrowingPainsVault 11-08-2009, 04:30 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj9nAhN4Z7A sixfingers 05-05-2010, 03:28 AM Ah yes, I remember it well! Gojirob 02-01-2014, 11:12 AM I caught the tail-end of it when I was five, and was bitterly disappointed at the time I didn't see the whole thing. From what I do recall : the kids were getting further and further lost in the studios, till they ran afoul of some monsters from Sid & Marty Kroft shows - and then the weird parts turned out to be all just a dream - Jan's, I think - until outside the dream, HR Pufnstuf walked up and asked if this was where ABC Saturday Morning was being filmed, they told him yes - and then he shrank down and entered the TV by being beamed into it. My hope is, someone from ABC, The Kroft Brothers, or the estate of Sherwood Schwartz somehow has the whole thing available. treky 02-02-2014, 05:09 AM I don't remember that part. Gojirob 02-02-2014, 06:50 AM Over the course of 42 years, my memory could have become a bit hazy, but I remember that part very distinctly. king of comedy 02-02-2014, 09:15 AM http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff224/bboisound/a1-46.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff224/bboisound/a2-85.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff224/bboisound/a3-34.jpg If you look at the final picture, you can see a camera man is filming them. You'll have to Google it until I get five posts under my belt. comedyfreak 02-02-2014, 03:58 PM That was cool, they need to put this on dvd. Gojirob 02-02-2014, 04:05 PM Its prolly a nightmare, rights-wise. You have the Bradys, and all the actors in it, or their estates. Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd. You have Sid & Marty's host of characters. You have the real Jackson 5, and their cartoon counterparts, owned by themselves, Rankin-Bass, and Motown. You prolly had Looney Tunes cameos, and who knows who and what else, plus ABC, which is now to say, Disney. The only way this will ever get seen is by upload (assuming someone somewhere had it recorded and kept it well), since no one could make enough money to make printing DVD's worth it. Gojirob 02-06-2014, 09:24 PM I have to add a grain of salt here : The article on Lost Media Wiki was written by me, so its info is only as good as what I have. I posted chiefly in the hopes that it will be found by someone, somewhere. Here's a thought : If anyone reading this attends an event where one of the Brady actors is signing autographs, maybe ask them a question about this special. If they don't have a copy themselves, maybe one of their associates might. As much as I honestly would like to see the parties make money off this, again, too many hands in the pie. |
