View Full Version : Personal Paranormal Experiences?

I thought I'd throw out this question to the forum at large.

Has anyone had a paranormal experience, and if so, what was it and how do they feel about it now?

There were a few things that happened shortly after my parents died that seemed quite odd or at the very least, extremely coincidental. A hand held blackjack game that I had gotten my dad the Xmas before he died suddenly started working, on its own, for a few nights. I guess you could say it was the batteries dying but it seemed quite odd to me.

Also, when my mom was quite ill we installed three baby monitors in the house, to ensure that if she needed me and I was upstairs she could call out. After she died, I was in my room alone and the "squawking" noise that signalled that someone was trying to communicate came through my monitor upstairs. The only monitors that could have made that signal were in my mom's bedroom or in the kitchen. The one in her bedroom was turned off, and the one in the kitchen wasn't even plugged in.

Also, a couple of years after my mom died and just a few months after my brother died, I went to a psychic. I was skeptical (skeptical doesn't mean open minded, it just means protecting yourself from gullibility) so I did not volunteer any information or validate things any more than absolutely necessary. After the session was over I tried to filter out the things that the psychic could have gleaned from "cold" or "hot" readings, and even after doing so, there were several things she told me that no one outside my family could possibly have known of.

I don't pretend to be able to account for any of these things, and won't preach or try to get anyone to change their mind about the viability of these phenomena. I just wanted to get some interesting stories from those who want to contribute; I'm not interested in a debate between skeptics and believers, or anything of that nature. Sometimes it's much better to simply state what happened than trying to interpret or define everything. I don't want a back and forth about what else could have explained the things I talked about; I am fully aware that one can come up with alternative explanations to just about anything. Those don't rule out the more esoteric explanations, and we won't solve anything here anyway.

If you've seen or heard or experienced anything you still can't explain by any conventional means, I'd love to hear your story. :)
