I feel sorry for the people of Indiana, West Virginia, Michigan, and now Pennsylvania who have to deal with them. One of those pushing for them is none other than Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cadavers, er, Cavaliers (Go Celtics! Go Bulls! I live in Ohio. I'm not sure it will be good for Ohio overall. It can bring more crime, drugs, etc...

I voted no on Issue 3. In my opinion, casinos here would cause more problems than they would solve. That scary old lady in the commercials for Issue 3 looks like she'd hit you with a rolling pin if you looked at her funny. :eek: :lol:

Gambling like drink and drugs is a disease. Making it easier to gamble will only put some in financial ruin. I'm sure we all have stories where some couldn't control their gambling habit and turned to crime to support their addiction.

I must side with you James on this one. I dont gamble, but if people want to spend their money on casinos, I dont see anything wrong with it. Its their money and they have a right to spend it as they see fit.


It could be worse, they could be blowing their money on cocaine.

I apologize if I came off as snotty.. casinos do have pros and cons but I found it unfair to say gambling as a whole is wrong and leads to trouble. That sounded like a generalization.

Exactly, whenever a new restaurant open up people don't go on about how this could make people addicted to overeating, or if the retaurant seves alcohol how it could make someone an alcoholic. Then why when it's a casino does eveybody seem go out of their way to point out the dangers of gambling. I've been to a casino and I didn't go crazy. My dad and stepmom have gone to Vegas and they were fine. You can gamble responsibly, just as you can drink responsibly.

You are right, Monika. It's not the best way to get jobs in Ohio (coming from someone who went for the issue). The best way is what Ohio thrived from...steel!

But Cleveland has a lot of hope with hospitals, Cincinnati has Proctor & Gamble, Toledo can get back with glass-making (even for art), and the Capital City (Columbus) has OSU.

But maybe we can get something from the casinos...we only hope....
