This is sorta similar to the prostitution thread, but who here is for or against reefer.

I am not condoning the use or saying everyone should smoke it, but I do believe it should be legal. Its nowhere near as bad as cocaine and heroin, and its even safer than cigarettes. The people I know who do smoke it are responsible about it.

As I have stated here before, for it.

My position on the subject has not changed. Still for it; still believe it should be legalized, taxed (the Federal government and most state governments would be out of debt in mere months) and enjoyed by all.

Only for medicinal reasons.

Against it. Why allow yet another problem into society?

And it sets a very bad example for children. Its use should be discouraged, not encouraged.

I agree. It helps with chemo patients, my old Supervisor use to make a tea out of it and give it to his Mother. It helped her appetite, he just never told her what it was made from.

The problem with taxing it is this.....How is it going to get us out of debt when the idiots in Washington don't know how to balance a darn budget in the first place, it'll just happen again.

You hit the nail right on the head. I don't trust the idiots in Washington as far as I can throw them.

Right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is something else the government would righteously screw up, even though I think pot should be legal for whomever wants it.

I predict terrible consequences if marijuana is legalized. Just imagine hordes of hungry potheads breaking into homes to steal Cheetos, Funyuns, and KitKat Bars.

Very scary!

I've never smoked pot (and never will) but ultimately I don't see how you can rationalize legalizing alcohol and not legalizing pot.

Yes, I've heard the logic that pot, while not one of the "worst" drugs in and of itself, is still a "gateway drug". But I could easily make the same argument with respect to alcohol (which I don't use either).

It should be legalized. Any responsible adult should be allowed to smoke it if they want.

I know numerous people who smoke pot, and I'm for its legalization.

Time to legalize pot, and control and tax it like booze.

I would be against it for regular casual use but for it for possible
medicinal purposes such as the treatment of nausea from Cancer
Chemotherapy.

OH Nuts!

I think it should be decriminalized but not (entirely) legal for recreational purposes. But for driving under the influence, throw the book! Pot is a dangerous drug, when used just to get high. My experiences with it many many yrs ago were just as bad/worse than the ones I had w alcohol. And when I combined both together it was like 1+1 equalling 4 - but in A VERY BAD way. (Fortunately I haven't used any drugs or alcohol is over 25 yrs - my only drug thes days is caffeine LOL)

When marijuana is being used for medical purposes (to increase appetite for seriously ill patients, to combat nausea, glaucoma etc.) it should be legal - but prescribed by an MD just like any other strong drug.

As a Chronic pain sufferer, yes, it should be legalized, at least medically.

I know several people who smoke pot reguarly and are perfectly fine and funtional. I dont smoke it nowhere as much as I used to and I am fine and capable of functioning in society.
