I was watching some episodes from the first season tonight and noticed that the plot description for "Just One Happy Family" called Samantha's father "Victor." :confused:

I figured it must be because it's his first appearance in the series----we've all seen little details of a character change as a show decides how he/she will be portrayed.........but, no

Endora calls him Maurice throughout the episode and the closing credits call him that as well. In the entire 8-year run of the show he was never called anything but Maurice----so where did they get the name Victor?

Does anyone know???? :confused:

Yes, Samantha's father was supposed to be named Victor but they changed it to Maurice after Maurice Evans was cast in the role. I guess it was an oversight (and a major one) that kept the name Victor on the DVD box.

That was episode 10, Season 1.

I'm glad that the team working on the DVD package did some research and looked at old source materials and so forth...

...but after the show had been airing 40 years and was familiar to the majority of people in 2 or 3 generations...

...and (as Kacey Rogers said in one of the special features) had been airing in syndication "5 days a week, sometimes as often as 4 times per day"....

...I'm surprised that there wasn't at least ONE person who said "hey, I grew up with this show...the guy's name was Maurice!" :lol:
