The supposed unholy trinity of bad Saturday Night Live seasons:
*1980-1981 - The first season without Lorne Michaels and the remaining original/classic cast members. The only season that Jean Doumanian executive produced:

*1985-86 - The first season that Lorne Michaels came back after the Dick Ebersol produced years ended. Just about everybody sans Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Nora Dunn were gone after this season:

*1994-95

Probably the years post the departure of Dana Carvey, Phil Hartmann, Chris Farley, David Spade and Adam Sandler (a few others) That era was the best in SNL history!

1980-81 is awful. Just terrible. The worst season in the shows history. No question.

1985-86 was very uncomfortable, because you had a bunch of people who just didn't gel.

1994-95 is fine, except people were getting very lazy. That group probably stayed one year too long. I thought the shows were pretty much the same as the years before, except the recurring characters were stale.

1981-82 also had its share of suck, but following 80-81 was pretty easy to do.
