Rita Walter caught from the side, rather than from behind. Oops! Cathy's voice was overdubbed. I wonder why they left it like this.
The episode is "The Elopement."

View Full Version : The Back of Cathy's Head-From the Side Madame X 10-18-2009, 12:28 AM Rita Walter caught from the side, rather than from behind. Oops! Cathy's voice was overdubbed. I wonder why they left it like this. The episode is "The Elopement." 152821 randyrandy 10-18-2009, 03:22 PM Remember, this was the pre-DVR era so maybe they figured you had to be watching the right spot at the right time to see the error. And even if you did see it you had no way to rewind it and watch it again. Just a thought. :) Madame X 10-18-2009, 04:24 PM You're right! We can dissect every frame with modern technology. I have found hundreds of interesting things in I Love Lucy that the producers never had to worry about the audience seeing. randyrandy 10-18-2009, 04:41 PM You're right! We can dissect every frame with modern technology. I have found hundreds of interesting things in I Love Lucy that the producers never had to worry about the audience seeing. They probably never even imagined the technology that we have today. Randy Patty Duke Photo Group http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Patty_Duke_Photo_Group/ randyrandy 10-19-2009, 05:56 PM I just watched this episode and I noticed that Rita made another non-back-of-the-head appearance. She was standing in line to get a marriage license. She was standing in line to get a marriage license. Yes, she was used as an extra when not standing in as Patty or Cathy. randyrandy 10-20-2009, 12:51 AM Yes, she was used as an extra when not standing in as Patty or Cathy. I know. I was just pointing out one of her appearances in case anyone was curious. :) Do you recall the episode where Rita had a speaking line? Randy Patty Duke Photo Group http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Patty_Duke_Photo_Group/ Madame X 10-20-2009, 12:06 PM I didn't realize that Rita had a speaking part! I'll have to watch for that. I only have season 1 so far, and have no opportunity to see the next two seasons until they come out on DVD. Do you know which episode or season that might be in? Madame X 10-20-2009, 01:48 PM Randy- Is this the shot you are referring to? Is she the one in plaid? Now I'll keep an eye out for her. When I learned who Lucy's double was on "I Love Lucy," she became easy to spot as an extra, and I was surprised how often they used her. Maybe it's the same for Rita. 152912 randyrandy 10-20-2009, 06:48 PM I didn't realize that Rita had a speaking part! I'll have to watch for that. I only have season 1 so far, and have no opportunity to see the next two seasons until they come out on DVD. Do you know which episode or season that might be in? If I'm remembering correctly, it's toward the end of season One. The episode Chip Off the Old Block. There's another scene in the third season where Rita doesn't have a speaking part, but she walks into the shake shop as one of Patty's friends. Randy Patty Duke Photo Group http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Patty_Duke_Photo_Group/ Madame X 10-20-2009, 07:41 PM It is ironic that the closing credits list all of the teens that played Patty's and Cathy's friends, but they never credit Rita even though she was in every episode! Cheryl Harrell 10-22-2009, 01:15 AM Also Cissy (Sissy? Unsure which way to spell it) from Family Affair (Kathy Garver) was in some eps as one of the teenagers... mego73#2 10-22-2009, 10:47 PM Here are the accidental face exposures and on screen appearences I found. Incicently I've heard different named given for Patty Duke's double http://reboxyourmego.com/pattydouble.jpg Pitooey 10-23-2009, 12:05 AM WOW................... Great photos. Madame X 10-23-2009, 01:36 PM Mego, thanks for the photos! How did you add the arrows? You're right. Rita's last name is listed as "Walter" in the booklet included with season 1's DVDs. Other internet sources list her last name as "McLaughlin." How do we find out what her real name is? randyrandy 10-23-2009, 02:24 PM Mego, thanks for the photos! How did you add the arrows? I wonder if she would be interested in doing an interview for Season Two's DVD release (assuming there is one :) ) mego73#2 10-23-2009, 04:06 PM Mego, thanks for the photos! I took out interlace distortion on the photos when needed and upped the contrast. randyrandy 11-16-2009, 01:12 AM I think I found the audio equivalent to The Back of Patty/Cathy's Head. In the episode Let 'Em Eat Cake, right after you hear the dubbed in voice of Cathy say "separate the yolks" it sounds like you can hear the actual audio of Rita saying the word "yolks." Either that or I have officially lost my mind, because cousins are, indeed, two of a kind. CosmicCharlie 03-19-2019, 10:43 PM glad I found this ancient thread ! randyrandy 03-19-2019, 11:02 PM glad I found this ancient thread ! Very ancient! RetroGuy2000 03-20-2019, 12:22 AM Somewhat germane to this conversation is Nick at Nite's hilarious special interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCE6r7e-eTI) with "the back of Patty Duke's head". CosmicCharlie 08-11-2019, 08:19 PM my tv shot |
