According to this from tvshowsondvd.com, all 6 of the post-series movies will be coming 1/26/10 from Warner Bros.

http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Waltons-The-Movie-Collection/12816

It's slated to be a 3-disc set, double-sided, with (I'm pretty sure) each movie on each side of each disc.

Awesome!! :D

Isn't it amazing that all the actors that played the younger 6 Walton kids stayed intact from The Homecoming: A Christmas Story in 1971 to the last Walton reunion movie in 1997? Although there was a fake John-Boy in the later seasons of the series run, the other kids were never re-casted in 26 years!

Indeed, it's very cool. Did you ever see the Family Feud episode that pitted The Waltons against The Dukes of Hazzard? The teams were:

The Dukes of Hazzard:

Tom Wopat (Luke Duke)
Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke)
Denver Pyle (Uncle Jesse Duke)
Sorrell Booke (Boss Hogg)
James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane)

vs.

The Waltons:

Judy Norton-Taylor (Mary Ellen Walton)
Jon Walmsley (Jason Walton)
Mary McDonough (Erin Walton)
Kami Cotler (Elizabeth Walton)
Eric Scott (Ben Walton)

:faint: Whew! Your title for this thread threw me for a loop. For a moment there, I thought that hollyweird was going to try to screw up another good show by making movies out of them.
Good to know that is not the case. :)

I was just thinking about Jon Walmsley's episode of My Three Sons today. His hair was really long and that was part of the storyline - Barbara Harper Douglas (Beverly Garland) talks to his character and he ends up getting a haircut. Hard to remember the rest of the story...!

Anyway, I'm a fan of Andrew Duggan who played John Walton in The Homecoming. Ralph Waite was fine in the series, but Andrew would have made for an interesting regular cast member. He was a big, strapping guy. It was a shame that his two big breaks, starring in Bourbon Street Beat and later Lancer, both died premature TV deaths -- and both were excellent shows. The Waltons would have made his career.

Do we ever know the story of why the adults didn't transfer to the TV series from the Homecoming (except for Ellen Corby)?

I read that Patricia Neal wasn't even asked to do the TV show. As for the others, I have no idea.

There is quite the age difference between Patricia O'Neal and Michael Learned...which made for a startling contrast between The Homecoming and The Waltons.

Michael Learned seemed more glamourous and Patricia Neal seemed to be more earthy. There's a 13-year age difference between the two (PN was born in 1926 and ML in 1939).

Exactly what Paramount should have done with "MacGyver" and "The Brady Bunch."

I have been enjoying the Waltons movies. I have watched three of then so far. They made me nostalgic for this great series. So when i was in Walmart today and saw they had season sets on sale for $12.83 each I couldn't resist buying the first three seasons. It looks like I'm going to be spending a lot more time on Waltons Mountain!

I LOVED The Walton's. It broke my heart when the show ended. Today there is nothing on that I consider a family show like The Walton's was.

I wish they would all get together for One more reunion movie!!

There aren't that many TV shows that stay with you like this one. I felt almost like they were family.

That would be so nice - almost everyone in the cast is still around, so why not?

I wish I knew who to contact about a reunion movie.

Btw, I also loved all the reunion movies but I wonder what happened. I was watching one of the movies and they mentioned Virginia (Ben and Cindy's daughter) had died and they were now childless. I wondered the entire time what happened to the son they also had.
