My mom would never let us go on any carnival rides. Apparently rides put up for a week in a parking lot are dangerous. ;) Now that I'm older I understand her reasoning, but I'm still a little bitter. At least we could go on amusement parks rides.

The only thing my parents didn't let me do was wear makeup until I was 15.

At first they said that I couldn't date until I was 16, but then I met somebody when I was 15, and they became lax on that rule.

Also, they wouldn't allow any phone calls, in or out, after 9pm.

I remember my parents not allowing me to watch Three's Company when I was in grade school.

My dad didn't like me watching "Married With Children" - I watched it quite often when it was still on TV in its original run.

I sometimes catch MWC reruns on TV now, and I go, "I LIKED that show?!?!" - it's so awful and cheesy. :barf:  Altho I am partial to 80's MWC... Heh.

One other thing to add. My mother never objected to the music I listened to except for Prince, because in the song "Controversy" he recites the Lord's prayer and she thought that was blasphemy (or however you spell it). I tried to bypass her and go through my stepfather, but he said no too. I could listen to Prince when my uncle was around since he was a fan. It wasnt until Purple Rain came out that my mother calmed toward him.

my mom always had the stupidest thing about not letting us go on the internet.

she can be very goofy at times.

I couldn't watch it either. The commercials for it always looked funny and I'd want to watch it and my parents would say it was a "bad show" for kids. I was at a friends house and she was watching it with her parents and I remember getting so upset because I wasn't allowed to watch it and thinking I was going to see something really awful. I also wasn't allowed to watch Facts of Life. My parents were convinced it was about sex-crazed teenagers I think. They never watched it, so how would they know? I started watching it on our upstairs TV when I was in about 3rd grade and kept it a secret. My older brother watched it with me because he had a huge crush on Nancy McKeon and we just didn't tell. ;)

I remember you telling me about how your parents would not let you watch Facts of Life. The funny thing about Three's Company is that the boy who lived down the street and was actually younger than me was allowed to watch it. I eventully saw Three's Company years later and didn't really like it.
