Hey, I was just wondering just out of curiousity. How come nobody is responding to any of my three "I Love Transcripts" threads?

One of them I've had up since Friday night hoping for a response on it but, never got any. Also, I reposted them twice yesterday to see if I can get some replies that way and that didn't work either.

Also, how often is this message board updated? Because I've been coming on here about everyday for a little while and it seems to be the samething everyday. I've been on other boards expecually game message boards like "The Sims" and they're update constently and they have new theads every few minutes. This one seems to be the slowest I've seen it seems to be almost dead.

I always do a search for new posts, and then respond to as many as I can. I don't watch a lot of the shows on this board, so some boards are of more interest to me than others.

I'm sorry, I don't remember seeing the threads you mentioned. I'm not a huge "I Love Lucy" fan, though, so it could be that I missed it. I don't watch the show much, but it is a true classic. Nothing else could compare.

The board really isn't "updated" at certain times as far as I know. It's just when people post things or respond to posts that it's considered "updated". I try to respond to as many posts as possible, provided there is something of interest to me. I get frustrated when I see zero responses to my threads. It makes me feel like no one is interested in what I have to say. That is a  assumption and you can tell by the number of reads that some people were interested enough to read it. It's hard to tell which posts will get a response and which ones won't. I know I've posted several things on the board that I think "No way will anyone care about this", and it will get three pages of replies. On the other hand, something that I think is really cool or funny won't receive any. Go figure. I know of at least one other person who feels the same way. He is a very active member of the board and he uses creative techniques to generate interest in certain boards that are slow.

I'm not sure why some boards are slower than others. Maybe it's related to whether or not there are any new developments for a particular show, like news about a cast member or a DVD release. That would be my guess.

BTW, I see that you are a relatively new member, so :welcome: to the board!

Andrea

Yes, exactly what Andrea said. In my case, I think the "Head of the Class" section rarely gets updated by anyone else except me, but that hasn't stopped me from posting there whenever I can. :)

Thanks, I think I know how you feel about the no reponses thing to threads we sometimes write.

When you write a thead weather asking a question or not and you come back several times and theirs no replies to it. It can get kind of annoying. It's just like talking to someone in person and they just ignore you.

And I guess your also right about the board activity and stuff. Some boards are actually busyer then others.

This is very true - especially at this time of year. Kids have just started back at school, after school activities have started, people doing yardwork and getting ready for winter, Thanksgiving and all. Often, it's busier in the summer - especially on the smaller boards.

Since you're new, you might find if you hop over to the Chit Chat forums, you'll make more connections and that sometimes carries over to the other boards.

You also can "bump" the thread yourself every couple of days or so if you find you're not getting replies (or bump it on a Friday evening so it's seen when the site becomes busier on the weekend).

Hope this helps and like Andrea said, welcome to the boards and SO. It's actually a great site with many cool and funny members with great insights. :)

I think the liveliest discussion is on current shows, not oldies.

As much as I hate to admit it I think you are right.

There are not enough older posters here, and not enough of the younger posters who have either seen or have any interests in the classics from the 50's and 60's.

Don't take it personally!

Sometimes people don't respond because they don't have anything to add to the discussion.

The I Love Lucy board is the most popular board in the '50s category with almost 31,000 posts! Participation was continuous last year and it was one of the hottest boards on the site, but some key contributors faded away.

Often part of the problem with older shows is that younger viewers don't have the insight or interest to keep topics going. I can talk about ILL, Leave it to Beaver, Patty Duke, Donna Reed, etc. all day, but I can't really contribute anything to current shows. I think it's a generational thing.

Another problem is that topics have already been discussed. I personally posted about 1000 items with many photos and I had to give it a break so we wouldn't keep repeating things.

If you can find something new to say about a 55-year old show, go for it! I'd love to hear about something I never knew before, but that would be difficult since I have been watching ILL for 48 years and pretty much know it by heart.

Don't give up!
