I loved the documentary! I thought it was great! Nancy should have been in it though. I especially loved the cast quizzes. They were really funny trying to figure out the answers. lol. I did wish that they had more behind the scenes stuff. I would have liked to have seen more of that kind of thing but overall it was awesome! What did you guys think?

I was happy to see it and I loved that they had Charlotte, Mindy, Lisa and Kim, but it really was the same stories and pictures we have heard many times before. I was hoping to hear and see something new. I hate that they spend so much time on season 1 girls, George Clooney and Jeri Jewel. I would have liked to have heard more about how the cast got along over the years. I loved hearing the story about Lisa showing up with cargo pants and a book in each pocket and baby powder in her hair b/c she didn't take a shower. Also, I liked hearing that the original name for Jo was Foxy. I wish Mindy would write a tell all book or something b/c I bet she has a lot of things to talk about, she doesn't seem to hold back.

I agree. I loved the baby powder thing. A lot of the things Lisa talked about in this documentary, I have heard her say in person which I thought was really cool. I racked her brain about FOL the first time I met her. We ate dinner together and she was talking to me about the whole episode process. She didnt mention that she wasn't a fan of it though. On the show last night, it said that she would get her lines and stuff down pretty quickly and then said " see you in 4 days" lol. I am rambling now but it was interesting to hear some of the things that Lisa has talked about in her conferences. I don't agree with Mindy on some of the things she said, especially about "The First Time" but I still like her very much.

You have to love Lisa. :)

I enjoyed it too. I had heard most of it before, but it was still fun to watch. I did like the story about how the original name for Jo was Foxy. I can't even imagine that. And no offense to Lisa, but that baby powder thing grossed me out a bit. If your hair is greasy, take a shower. It really made me laugh, but I still thought it was odd. I also wish Nancy had agreed to be interviewed, but I wasn't expecting to see her. It was nice that they interviews some first season girls as well, they sometimes get left out of these kind of things. I also liked the quizzes...Mrs. Garrett moved to a "mobile home." I about died laughing when Kim said that!!!

I didn't agree with some of what was said about the first season. I think there was some good shows during season 1, especially "Rough Housing", "Dieting" and "Running". The one thing I did agree with was the producers' dislike of the skimppy shorts worn year. I agree that the characters and actresses were way too young at that point to be dressing in such a way.

I am not a big fan of season one so I did agree with some of what they said, especially about there being too many cast members. It is hard to identify with the characters when there are so many of them. But I definitely agree about the clothes from first season! It was ridiculous the stuff they made those girls wear...inappropriate for teenage girls in my opinion.

I enjoyed this show. I have to say when they were talking about the way the first season girls dressed, I was in full agreement. That's what I always thought about the first season. Girls were wearing shorts that went up to their necks and you could almost see their "business". Even the tops were too tight and so were the jeans!! Especially when Mrs. Garrett innocently tapped Blair's behind in the "Emily Dickinson" episode and Blair was wearing those tight tan pants. These girls were way too young for "Jiggle TV". That one woman was right, it was semi-"kiddie porn". But, other than that, I loved the program. The way they delt with the virginity topic was also brilliant. Though I've never been too crazy about the guy Natalie was dating, Snake. To me, he just seemed really sleezy.

That's because it was Vic Demoan from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

I just realized that, actually, when watching this and they said it was the guy from "Fast Times". Weird. I just thought he looked too old and just seemed really greasy. I love the episode, though. But I'm still in shock that the lady said exactly what I've thought about the first season all along. It was a cute bunch of episodes, but alot of the stuff the girls wore was just way too revealing. Nowadays, it's nothing to see 12/13/14-year-olds dressed in skimpy outfits, which I think is sick. But thirty years ago, it was quite shocking.

I dvr'd it so I'm gonna watch it tonight. Can't wait! Sounds like it was a nice little documentary. I must be getting old because I sound like my elders when I say I, too, think what young girls where these days is waaaay too skimpy.

I LOVED the cast quizzes and I laughed at the "motor home" thing too. Those were soooo funny, especially when they couldn't figure out the answers.

Just Google Cast Confessions: The Facts of Life and you'll find a bunch of different links from different sites and you can download the full episode to your computer. That's what I had to do because Directv doesn't carry the Bio channel unless you pay for it :).

I just finished watching this now and I genuinely loved it. A lot of it was stuff that we already knew but I enjoyed watching it. I loved Lisa's story about her putting baby powder in her hair and Mindy was hilarious when she was talking about going into the casting director's office for the first time and seeing Gary Coleman and going "oh my God, it's Arnold!" ITA with whoever said that she needs to write a tell-all book; I'd buy it :D. I loved the cast quizzes too, it was funny watching them figure out the answers. Lol at Kim: "Mrs. Garrett moved to a mobile home".

ITA with everyone here that those clothes in S1 were just way too skimpy. Believe it or not, I was actually surprised when I found out that the producers were talking about them in those clothes and that the cast was able to hear. I mean, I knew that there had to be some leering involved but it still surprised me. Nowadays though, it's not uncommon to see clothes like that on teen girls. One day when I was just getting into the show (so I was about 11-12) I was shopping with my mom at Target and saw short shorts that looked exactly like the ones the girls wore on FOL and I was like, "Look Mom, the girls wore these on The Facts of Life!" My mom turned to me and said, after saying that those were the style then, that "Yes those are the same shorts and you're never going to wear ones like that."

A great little documentary on our favorite show. I like that it was light-hearted. I just wish Nancy was involved. I was surprised at the bad quality of some of the clips they used from episodes like "Gone With The Wind" and "The First Time". Mindy was a scream. Love her! Charlotte is a sweetheart. The mini quizzes were fun. The only one I got right immediately was the name of Jo's rock star boyfriend...FLY MAN! I was yelling it out at the tv and they couldn't remember. :D Those are some of my favorite episodes especially "Atlantic City" when Jo hides under the table and Natalie follows Tootie and the guy she meets at the casino.

Yeah I liked that it was light-hearted too and not focused on the slutty first season clothing and the weight issues the whole time. I'd have loved for Nancy to be in it but I didn't expect her to. Mindy made me laugh through the whole thing  love her. I loved the part where Charlotte was imitating Mindy's voice .

Those mini-quizzes were awesome. I knew the Flyman one right away too and the one where they asked the name of Blair's horse ( at Mindy: "I remember the episode but not that effing horse's name! ROFL). The Mrs. G one made me a little stumped but only because I didn't remember all the details until they showed the clip (I knew she got married, I just didn't remember where she actually went with Bruce). At least I knew she didn't go to a mobile home!.

A lot of things they said I'd have heard from E True Hollywood Story, Truth Behind the Sitcom Scandals, and Intimate Portrait.

However, I was surprised/found these things funny...

Charlotte Rae saying that they offered her millions not to leave (was this really true, or was she just joking?)
That they spent so much time talking about season 1, it became really repetitive IMHO
Mindy Cohn didn't know what upstage meant
The original name of Jo, Foxy
The poor quality clips they had from episodes not on DVD
That they hired a hypnotist to solve their personal issues, and how they brought the scale to rehearsal and everyone watched as they weighed the girls
How Lisa used baby power to absorb the grease in her hair
That Geri Jewell thought she could win an Emmy based on her appearences on the show
How explicitly Mindy Cohn talked about choosing her character to be deflowered..."Of course the pretty girl gonna get nailed, everybody does that...show them that, that cherry is gonna get popped" LMAO
The TV Guide guy making that comment about how you can tell why it took so long for George Clooney to get his acting career start....just look at his acting ability on the show LMAO
The major impact that the show had in South Africa... it taught them how to speak English

I have to say I wasn't surprised that Nancy McKeon didn't show up to be interviewed. It was funny the way Lisa made that comment telling to the producers to save their money on weight loss regimens, since she liked food so much

Overall it was really well presented, I liked the quotations to bridge the conversation of the central issues of the show.

Yeah, the key to getting Natalie was playing side 2 of Led Zeppelin IV. (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

I missed half of it, but was able to watch the ending. I think I tuned right before they talked about the infamous virginity episode.
It's good I came here and got filled in on what they talked about. I can't believe Kim said Mrs. G went to live in a motor home.

The character's name was Mike Damone, I think. But yes, both roles were played by Robert Romanus (who also had a contuning role on Days of Our Lives in the mid-80s).

That was hysterical, you couldn't even make out what Natalie's boyfriend looked like in The First Time episode. It looks like they couldn't get the tapes from Sony so they dialed up YouTube. LOL.

I also laughed at whoever said "Why in the world did we all just keep living together?" It is funny to see how the writers come up with excuses to keep all the girls together as the years go on.
