A judge ruled Tuesday in Pennsylvania that Jon Gosselin needs to return $180,000 to his joint bank account with estranged wife Kate, her lawyer says.

Kate has alleged that Jon left her just $1,345 in a joint account that originally had a balance of $230,000. She said on The View that she uses that account to pay the family's bills.

Kate's attorney Mark Momjian says in a statement: "The remaining sum of $55,000, which Ms. Gosselin used for household bills and expenses relating to the children, will be subject to further determination by the arbitrator at a later date."

Jon's attorney Mark Heller, however, asserts that Momjian's statement "mischaracterizes the facts and fails to address ... that there has been no determination or proof" that Kate spent the $55,000 on family expenses.

"Nor has there been a determination concerning the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Kate has failed to account for in violation of the arbitratorandrsquo;s order," Heller says in a statement. "It may very well be determined that very substantial sums of money which Kate has failed to account for might have been misapplied and misused by Kate. As of now, Jon Gosselin chooses to give Kate the benefit of doubt, but we are all anxiously awaiting her compliance."

Jon, 32, has until the next hearing date, Oct. 26, to return the money or a judge can begin contempt proceedings against him, the site reports. Kate is also required to provide accounting of past expenses by the same date.

Kate says, "As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children. Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues."

I have to admit I have no idea who these people are.

I am tired about hearing about Jon and Kate. They both have made mistakes and flaws but I find Jon to be a bit more likeable than Kate. Several people have said that Kate was controlling and verbally abusive of Jon. I think they should end the show. Jon said he would be ok going back to his IT career.

I swear, John and Kate are the real-life Ray and Debra Barone :barf:

I agree!! The Duggars at least seem to have their heads on straight, unlike the Gosselins. But I also agree with Allison that we haven't heard the end of the Gosselins by a long shot. They both are attention whores! Poor kids - they deserve a lot better than this. ohno:

the gosselins are a family of 10 (2 parents, 8 kids (6 which were from a multiple pregnancy) that starred on a tlc reality program. the parents jon and kate are now divorcing after scandalous stories of cheating on both parts as well as other issues in the marriage. and they are currently having their dirty laundry aired all over the media.

More on the Gosselin parents...

Kate had a really hard time getting pregnant after they got married. The, ahem, regular method - shall I say, didn't work. So she and Jon went in for fertility treatments. That was in early 2000... The treatment worked, and she got pregnant with the twin girls. In the pic from my first post on this page, the two oldest are the one on far left and the one directly behind Jon. They just turned 9.

In late 2003, they decided they wanted kids again... so they went in for fertility treatments again and ta-da! Pregnant again! ...This time, with SEXTUPLETS. They were born in the spring of 2004, so they're all 5 now.

In the earlier seasons of J&K+8 (as I call their show, for short), you would hear Kate doing the voiceover in the opening credits. They had home video footage, and there was one part where it showed Kate in a hospital bed when she was pregnant with the sextuplets... her tummy was HUGE. She talks about how when she was on bedrest, she had to slather her tummy in Vaseline and keep it covered up with clingwrap, because the skin on her tummy had stretched so fast and so painfully. You can see her clingwrap-covered tummy in the opening credits as well.
