Hey, I was wondering. Has anybody heard weather they're planning to released Season 2 of The Lucy Show or even anymore seasons after that? Because it's been 3 months since that last update and the first season was released.

So, do they have any plans of releasing season 2 anytime this year or next? How long of a gap was there in between the first and second season of I Love Lucy? Also, Here's Lucy second season is already coming out next month.

Supposedly there were a lot of requests for season one, so if sales were close to matching the number of requests, I imagine the 2nd season will be forthcoming. It hasn't been that long since the 1st season came out, if there is no season 2 announcement by next March or April then I would start to get a bit concerned.

There was 6 months between the release of ILL season 2 and 3. Season 1 of I Love Lucy was one of the first tv shows to be put on DVD, and was released in volumes, later coming out as a more compact set inline to be uniform with seasons 2 & 3. Anyway, I too, wish we could hear something about season 2 TLS, but I don't think there is reason to be concerned YET, that its not on the horizen.

Though I did just check the CBS "Bible" site where it has a listing of its shows for syndication, and still nothing for TLS has been updated since Feb 2009 when it mentioned the first season being remastered in high-def. I still think that the 1st season sold way better and was received a lot better than what CBS had thought it would be, so they're probably in that state of "What do we do now?" thought. If common sense was common, I would think you would make an announcement!

If nothing is announced by December, I say worry time has come!

I think CBS completely underestimated the popularity of "The Lucy Show" and also underestimated what sales would be like for the show on dvd. That in mind, I don't think they prepared Season 2 until the numbers came in. Hopefully, they are going to prepare Season 3 as well to keep the releases more steady, especially since the next 2 are the last full seasons with Vivian Vance.

Remember this is CBS, not MPI. CBS will take 4 to 6 years to release all six seasons of TLS while MPI will probably have all six seasons of HL out within 2 years given that season two comes out in early November. Heck we had to wait 2 or 3 years between the LDCH and the first season of TLS. It's like Universal waiting 3 years between season 3 and 4 of AHP.

it may be CBS, but there wasn't that big of a wait between seasons 1 and 2 of Petticoat Junction or seasons 2 and 3 of The Beverly Hillbillies. I'm not expecting this to be put out at the rate say MPI is doing---MPI does it this fast because that is MPI's bread and butter, for CBS this is a sideline. All we asking is some ackowledgement that yes, sales were great and we are going to get on season 2, so thanks Lucy fans, from CBS.....I don't think that is too much

Plus M.P.I. already committed to putting out the entire series of Here's Lucy and the episodes from what I understand have already been remastered.

The original 35 mm masters were kept well preserved according to sources I've read.

Do we think this is going to come out in 2010? I e-mailed Tom Watson who runs the Lucy Fan blog and worked on the First Season dvds and he hasn't responded which leads me to believe this is a hush-hush project right now. I can't see them stalling it because it was one of their bigger sellers of 2009. :)

I guess they were kind of hush-hush with the first season. While rumors swirled for about a year, weren't we quite shocked when they finally announced it.

I almost couldn't believe it. I hope we don't have to wait a year in between sets. The next set has some hilarious episodes on it. :)

Folks, please stop panicking. Season 2 is being worked on as we speak.

CBS released Season 1 and waited to see what interest there was in the set. They anticipated it selling well but had to be sure in this economy. So any further work on Seasons 2 - 6 had to wait until Season 1 sold well enough.

Season 1 has done well and continues to do so. So CBS is hard at work on Season 2. The thing is, it's an older show & requires a lot of remastering. Also, like Season 1, they have to find a lot of goodies to include on the set, like original openings, closings, commercials, picture galleries, flubs, memorabilia, etc. etc. This takes a lot of time if it's to be done right.

The reason why we haven't heard yet is because they're still in the process of putting it together. But no way is there not going to be a release of Season 2. It's too good of a guaranteed sell for CBS. We'll get it for sure.

I think the waiting time for Seasons 3 - 6 will be much less because when Season 2 is ready for release, work will have already begun on the following season, thereby shortening the waiting time.

In any case, the long wait is a good thing. If Season 2 were to come out as soon as the end of this year, we'd be getting an inferior product compared to Season 1. I want the extra care for Season 2 that Season 1 was given.

Please have a little patience and stop panicking. More is on the way!!! :)

Good points Ed! I'm anxious, but was never worried. I'm glad they take the time to do it Right!!!! I think thats why the dvd release of Rhoda was not up to par because they rushed to have it out for the 35th anniversary.

...remembers that, even though season two was the first to be filmed in color, it originally aired in black and white; the network wasn't telecasting ANY color shows until the fall of 1965, due a rivalry between CBS' Bill Paley and RCA/NBC's David Sarnoff (Paley believed that if his network began colorcasting, they would only help sell more RCA color sets [NBC was virtually the ONLY network to schedule color series in the early '60s], "and I'll be damned if I'm going to let the General {Sarnoff} do that", he was quoted as saying). It wasn't until the fall of '65 that "THE LUCY SHOW" was initially shown in color, with several episodes from the third season repeated in full color in the spring of '66. Lucy spent the extra money to film in color after the fall of 1963 because she KNEW the future of television was going to be in COLOR, and her series would be more attractive financially as a result.

I'm saying this because if CBS is looking for "extras" for their DVD box set- original titles with sponsor I.D.'s and "integrated cast commercials" for co-sponsors Lever Brothers and General Foods from this particular season- they'll only find black and white prints, because that's how they were first televised!
