View Full Version : Fave Game Shows
Bootsy Whoosh 06-04-2001, 11:54 AM Forgive me if this has been brought up recently (I don't remember it though!)
What are your favorite game shows and why?
My favorite game show of all time is The Price is Right. I'm so good at it too! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I swear I need to be on that show someday. I am watching it right now in fact! But TPIR is also so fun, and I like watching the whacky people that get on there and their crazy reactions. I also love yelling at the screen and telling people what to bid and do, because you know, I'm almost always right and I'm sure yelling at the TV helps! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
After that, I like Jeopardy. I tried out to be on college edition 2 years ago, and I was soooo close to making the cut (at least for my region). I was like 2 wrong answers away from being on. Isn't that so sad? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif I so wanted to be on Jeopardy, that would be awesome! But the competion was very stiff and the questions they ask for the qualifying test are way harder than the questions they ask in the actual college tournament.
Anyway, I also enjoy Who Wants to be a Millionaire, even though I hardly ever watch it anymore. I like Regis, he's such a lovable freak!
Ooh I also tried out to be on Greed. I wasn't charismatic enough or something though. They wanted people who would have a good TV presence.
The Weakest Link is OK, but I don't like this new trend in game shows where they pit people against each other and animosity ensues. I mean games shows are supposed to be fun! You shouldn't feel like if you give too many wrong answers that you put yourself at risk of getting beat up by your "teammates" in the alley behind the studio after the show.
When I was a kid I watched games shows like all day. Does anyone remember how in the '80s the morning and afternoon was nothing but game shows? Now it's nothing but frickin' talk shows.
I used to like the Pyramid show (was it $100,000??) and Password. I liked Dick Clark as a host, and those were always fun, light-hearted shows. I also loved Classic Concentration. Does anyone else remember that one? Alex Trebek was the host.
Ok I guess I'm done rambling about game shows for now.

"Hello. I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No."
(The Simpsons, "The Springfield Files")
"My God! It's nothing but carrots and peyote!"
(Chief Wiggum, The Simpsons, "D'oh-in' in the Wind")
"I'm disrespectful to dirt. Can you see that I am serious? Out of my way, all of you. This is no place for loafers! Join me or die! Can you do any less?"
Women: "What a brave corporate logo! I accept the challenge of Mr. Sparkle."
Woman #1: "Awesome power!"
(Translated Japanese from Mr. Sparkle commercial, The Simpsons, "In Marge We Trust")

dawsongirl 06-04-2001, 05:15 PM Family Feud! But PLEASE don't make me watch Louie Anderson's version! They ruined a great show! It just wasn't the same after Richard left. Though Ray was good, he just talked too much.
Match Game '7x is hilarious! But again, it wasn't the same with that stupid star wheel and no Richard Dawson!
Name's the Same is the best 50's panel show.
Two for the Money was great too. Any show that gives away cigarettes on the air has to be great! I mean, only in the 50's!
I like Hollywood Showdown because I'm so good at it. Never tried out for it though.
Sean Snow 06-04-2001, 06:18 PM I like The Weakest Link (NBC) and Hollywood Boxoffice (PAX).
------------------
Jack: I'm surprised at you. Where would all the great women of history be if they thought like that!? Look at Joan of Ark and wht she accomplished. And, and Florence Nightengale and Madam Curry.
Chrissy: And Lucretia Borzok.
Janet: She posioned people.
Chrissy: Yeah, but she was very goo at it.

Krisalicious 06-09-2001, 07:14 PM I like the Price is Right because I love to see the people react when they win or lose and i like how they get the audience's help when they play. I also like all the showcases.
Devastation26 06-09-2001, 07:25 PM The Price is Right is the one and only game show I watch (I do watch link and Jeopardy from time to time but price is the only one I watch constantly). Is it just me, or does everbody (everybody meaning TPiR fans) miss Superball. I honestly don't see why they retired that. If memory serves me right, that was like the 2nd most popular game when it was retired (Plinko being 1st)

(Translated Japanese from Mr. Sparkle commercial, The Simpsons, "In Marge We Trust")I couldn't agree more about the state of todays T.V. Game Shows, esspecially since the only daytime show left is The Price Is Right.Ther are a few more on,but your local station will have to have them on.Anyway, here's my list:
1.The Hollywood Squares(Peter Marshall version)
2.Tattaletales
3.Let's Make A Deal
4Jeopardy!(Art Flemming version).Wish I could really remember more than the bits and pieces that I do remember of this show.
5.Celebrity Sweepstakes(Another show I barely remember, but remember enough to know it was a good game show.
6.Nearly all of the Pyramids games(Except the John Davision and Donnie Osmand version)
7.I'm Telling! It was a short lived game show that was on NBC in the late 80's,sort of like "The Newlywed Game"and Tattletales all roll into one, except it had brothers/sisters on it.
8.Card Sharks(Jim Perry version)
9.The Newlywed Game(At least 60,70's version)
10.High Rollers (Alex Tibeck version)From the little that I can remember.
