View Full Version : The Best Drive-Thru in America is.....
Brian Damage 10-03-2009, 12:12 PM The Chicago Tribune informs us that the quick-service industry publication QSR Magazine ranks fast food restaurants based on the follwoing drive-through attributes: speed of service, order accuracy, menu board appearance, and speaker clarity. Chick-fil-A is apparently unstoppable, stealing the top spot for the sixth time in seven years.
From the Trib:
QSR commissions research of the nation's top 20 fast-food chains, reviewing thousands of drive-through transactions. Although Chick-fil-A took the overall crown, here are the winners in each category:
—Speed of service: Wendy's.
—Order accuracy: Chick-fil-A.
—Speaker clarity: Chick-fil-A.
—Menu board appearance: Whataburger.
McDonald's is apparently slipping — their speed of service is down — dropping them from second overall to seventh.

McDonald's isn't the only one, speed of service in alot of the fast food isn't what it used to be.
When I worked at BK in the late 80's, our speed of service goal was 3 min., that's from the time they get to the register or drive-thru menu to when they get their food.
These days alot of times you're lucky if you can get your food in 5 min.or less!!
MickeyMac 10-03-2009, 03:19 PM Not to mention the the speakers at most drive thrus sound like they are underwater.
Chelsea 10-03-2009, 03:53 PM I just want to take the opportunity to admit how great, at least comparatively, I think Chick Fil A is. Great food, fast and friendly service, and compared to other fast food it's, well, less unhealthy. (Not healthy, still, but better than most)...it's my favorite fast food chain, easily.
LuLu Rogers 10-03-2009, 04:01 PM I worked at Chick-fil-A for almost a year and I have to say, it's a great company to work for. They train you to take pride in what you do and treat each customer like part of your family. I loved working there, and I'm seriously thinking about going back.
PZelda 10-03-2009, 06:45 PM LOL, we don't even have Chick-fil-A here, or in the whole state of North Dakota. How about rating fast food chains that have locations in all 50 states, huh?
That said, I can get my food at McD's in 3 mins or less if I go to the drivethru. Or if I go in, 45 sec or less. It may be slow in other states, but it sure as hell isn't slow here. I dunno what they're doing in other states. ;)

I agree. Their food is really great. I love their chicken strips.

I've never worked there but I know that the guy who started Chick-Fil-A had one rule when he was starting this business, and that was that all Chick-Fil-A's were to be closed on Sundays, so that the employees can spend at least one day off with their families. How great is that? So not everybody is money-hungry.

Given how much religion seems to be bashed nowadays (particularly conservative and traditional religion), I like that rule! Chick-Fil-A gets my business when I go to get my car serviced--there's a restaurant within walking distance of my Saturn dealership. I even have S. Truett Cathy's autobiography Eat Mor Chikin' Inspire More People--autographed, at that!
Schmoopie 10-05-2009, 04:20 AM OMG, all this talk about Chick-Fil Lay is driving me crazy! Not anyone's fault, of course. Well, except for the people who apparently don't think that Chick-Fil Lay's are needed in the Pacific Northwest! :crying:
The only time I've seen a Chick Fil Lay anywhere near here was several years ago. My husband and I were in Portland at a mall and I was about to freak out when I saw one. Unfortunately by the time we saw it, we had already eaten somewhere else. :(
My best friend started working at Chick Fil Lay in 1984 as her first job. She worked there for years and ended up owning her own store for a while. She no longer works there because I think they treated her unfairly toward the end, but I was really proud of her for making it all the way to the top! :clap :clap :clap :clap
The next time I see one, we are definitely stopping there for dinner or lunch! :eat:
