ABC and CBS are discouraging their stars from visiting NBC’s new prime-time Jay Leno show in order to bolster their own 10 p.m. shows, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Stars can still appear on NBC’s late night shows, but "In prime time, the stakes are higher and you have to protect your flank," one anonymous network executive told the paper.

The attempted boycott came up on Leno’s show Tuesday when CBS star Julia Louis-Dreyfus said she had received some pressure not to appear on the show.

That would be funny if a guest on Leno was the star of a 10 o'clock show.

Jay Leno: So when's your show on?
Person: Right now. Turn to CBS!

lol

But Julia's show airs at 8 PM not 10 PM so I don't know why anyone would pressure her not to appear.

Not good. But then again, NBC only has itself to blame for taking The Tonight Show away from Jay.

Anyone else think Conan suffering a concussion on the set of The Tonight Show (which was already sinking in the ratings) is a sign??

I hadn't thought of it that way but now that you mention it things certainly could be interpreted that way.

That's not right being pressured not to be a guest on Jay's show.
