View Full Version : HAPPY BIRTHDAY SNOOPY!!!
Schmoopie 10-02-2009, 04:37 AM According to Wickipedia, this isn't the official birthday of Snoopy, but my husband and I always celebrate it anyway! It is, however, the birthday of the Peanuts comic strip.
(Woah! Didn't realize that blue picture of Snoopy was going to be quite so BIG!!)
Found this article on Wickipedia about Snoopy...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of the greatest cartoon characters ever!!!! I've included a picture of his first ever appearance!
Don't laugh, but my husband and I always celebrate his birthday. We are going to get some cupcakes or make a small cake and spend the evening watching Peanuts specials and shows!
tv star collector 10-02-2009, 08:20 AM I've always loved Snoopy (and the whole Peanuts gang .. but especially
Snoopy). He writes books, flies a WWI plane, plays ice hockey, tennis, basketball, baseball, football and golf. He is a bowling ace. He surfs. He skis and swims. He is an attorney(!). He is a disco dancer and a diving expert. He can imitate any animal (and even a helicopter!) In short, he can do almost anything. Snoopy is one cool beagle!

Retro4Life 10-02-2009, 06:38 PM Oh, gosh I love "Peanuts" and Snoopy in particular. There was something so endearing about his "humanized" character; he truly was one of the "hippest" cartoon characters ever. My mom and I used to laugh out loud at his antics. :)
Jim Henson and Charles Schulz; darn, our generation sure was spoiled when it came to children's creators, wasn't it Marv?

You got that right my friend! We were definitely spoiled with the entertainment (and it's creators) that we grew up with.

catlover79 10-02-2009, 08:17 PM I can't really add to what's already been said except that SNOOPY ROCKS!!!!!!
Chocoholic 10-03-2009, 12:09 AM Snoopy is awesome!!!
Schmoopie 10-03-2009, 04:53 AM My husband and I love Snoopy so much that in 2000 we went on a Snoopy themed cruise on Royal Carribean to Jamacia, Cozumel and Labadee (RC's own island). I thought there would be a ton of kids there but it was mostly adults! I'll have to share that story sometime. We had an awesome time---and Snoopy was there! In person! Hmm... maybe that would be "in dog"?
Schmoopie 10-03-2009, 04:57 AM BTW, wanted to add a little "trivia" about my username. Most of you know that I picked "Schmoopie" because of the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld, right? Well, another reason is because the first time I heard Jerry call Sheila "Schmoopie", it sounded a lot like "Snoopy". I thought it was hilarious and unfortunately my husband (who loves Snoopy even more than I do!), didn't find it as funny as I do. Oh well. So there's the story of how I picked my name!
MickeyMac 10-03-2009, 03:07 PM What can I say. I still dig on some Snoopy and all of the peanuts characters.
Happy birthday Snoopy.
comedyfreak 10-04-2009, 05:46 PM Happy belated bday Snoopy!! He's so cool.
MrCleveland 10-04-2009, 06:58 PM Happy B-Day Snoopy!
Schmoopie 10-05-2009, 05:52 AM My husband and I celebrated his birthday by baking chocolate chip cookies and having root beer to go with them! And we watched "Snoopy Come Home". I love that movie! I'll post pictures soon!

That cruise sounds like so much fun! Do they have it every year?

No, but I wish they did! Actually it was in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Peanuts. I should try to scan some pictures or find some online. I thought there would be a lot of kids but it was more adults! We still keep in touch with a few people from that cruise, which is really cool. We could have cared less about going to the Caribbean. We just wanted to meet Snoopy! However, the ports of call were awesome too.
We got to meet Bill Melendez, who did the voice of Snoopy. I was very sorry to hear of his passing earlier this year. Almost everything about the cruise was Snoopy related. Every night we had dinner with the same couple (whom we still keep in touch with), and Snoopy would make an appearance at dinner. They had trivia contests, an ice skating show (featuring snoopy), a performance of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" by some of the cruise guests, a Peanuts-themed fashion show, screenings of classic peanuts cartoons. It was wonderful! I hated leaving the boat at the end of the week!
It's funny but I was just thinking last night that since it's been 10 years already (I still can't believe it!)-they should have a reunion somewhere. That would be awesome! I'd go to that in a heartbeat!
