Paul Shaffer, leader of the "Late Show With David Letterman" band, will be sitting in a new place on the show Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Shaffer will be a guest, talking with Dave about his new book, "We'll Be Here For the Rest of Our Lives: A Swingin' Show-biz Saga" that he wrote with David Ritz, reports New York Newsday.

Shaffer's book is a memoir of his life, including the Letterman years, working on "Saturday Night Live" as well as his early years growing up in Canada.
