I have kind of a stupid question. :happyface

Everytime I visit the boards here, I log in. When I'm done reading, I log out. Sometimes I visit several times a day, logging in and out each time.

I'm sure you know that by logging in as a registered user, any new posts since your last visit are prominently displayed.

I was wondering, if I just stayed logged in (no chance of security issues on my end) and didn't log out, would the new posts still show in bold, and would there be any problems that I haven't foreseen?

It's just that I visit here so often, I'm getting too lazy to log in and out every time, and I wanted to know if there were any detriments to staying logged in.

Thanks a bunch!

I stay logged in all the time and have the board bookmarked. I check back several times each day and I'm pretty sure every time some posts something new its in bold so you will know. The only detriment I can think of of staying logged in would be if someone else was sharing your computer. They could easily post under your username and have access to your private messages inbox.

I usually stay logged in all the time and usually new posts do show up in bold, but I have noticed that every once in a while new posts don't show up in bold. It's sorta odd. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks crystaldawn! Now I can be lazy and not feel guilty about it! lol

Joshypiano, I have noticed that a few times, even when logging in and out with each visit. Sometimes there are quite a few threads that I haven't read since my last time here, but they're not in bold, as usual.

I do know that when you get email notification that someone has replied to a thread you're subscribed to and you click on the link (in the email) that takes you directly to that thread when you go later and look at the entire board its no longer in bold because you've already visited that thread. If that makes sense... Could that be why?

Ive never gotten email notifications about people replying in threads. Ive only ever gotten emails that someone sent me a private message. How am I missing out on this?

You can choose to get an email everytime someone posts on a thread that you started or replied on. Go into your private message screen. At the left you will see "Edit Options" and then go to "Default Thread Subscription Mode" and from the drop down menu chose "Instant Email Notification". Of course save the changes and then you should start getting emails when someone replies to a thread you have replied to.
