first of all my name is bambilynn. and i am an avid classic tv junkie who loves facts of life, different strokes, family ties, one day at a time, mr. belvedere, hogan family, ect. there are a few shows from recent years that i like, such as frasier, friends, the class (which got cancelled for some ungodly reason after just one season!), the big bang theory and all the dramatic shows on usa and tnt (burn notice, the closer, leverage, law & order, ect.) however i cannot stand reality shows and think a majority of them are sexist and send very bad messages to young girls. i hate the hills and could give two squirts of dog poop about jon and kate gross-lin! but facts of life is my absolute favorite show and how sony can just dish out three seasons of this timeless classic while releasing season after season of seinfeld is beyond me! i think that this, along with one day at a time, was one of the only shows that featured real girls as opposed to the barbies we see on shows like beverly hills 90210, melrose place, buffy, charmed, one tree hill, the oc, 90210, the hills and gossip girl. at least the facts of life girls were ambitious and cared about other things besides boys and looking good in the latest fashion craze. i for one am so sick and tired of crappy shows like beverly hills 90210 and one tree hill being reran to death and being released on dvd, where girls are hopping into bed with anyone in pants, while the only way fans can watch this classic show is online and the episodes are often in danger of being removed all the time. anyway kudos to the facts of life for portraying girls as smart, ambitious and human. and the girls on this show weren't stick thin like the girls we see on tv today. i for one resented it when people started poking fun at their weight while it's okay for guys to be a little less than thin on tv. but these girls evolved and became amazing women. i just wish the girls of today could grow up watching this in reruns rather than sex in the city and gossip girl. anyway i do love this show and like all the other fans am rallying to get the rest of it on dvd.
