I first heard Gary Jules version of Mad World on a Youtube video that a Days of Our Lives fan made several years ago. Recently I found out that Tears for Fears had originally done this song. I found the link on Youtube and it was weird to hear the song so fast, but after a while it kind of grew on me. Actually though, I still love Gary's version. That's weird for me to say because his slower version completely changes the meaning of the song, IMO. I have to say that this is one of the few songs where I actually love both versions equally.
So if you feel like doing so, compare the two and see which one you like better. I think they are both awesome, but Gary's comes across as being a sad song. I guess it's hard to make a sad dance song (as the TFF song is!)!!!
And actually I also came across a a video of Adam Lambert singing Gary's version. I have never watched a second of AI, but he has an amazing voice!
So here ya go...
Here's the Gary Jewel version
