Former Saved By The Bell actor Dustin Diamond has accused TV bosses of paying off a girl who alleged his co-star Mario Lopez date-raped her in 1993. Diamond, who played geeky Samuel 'Screech' Powers in the hit '90s show, has made a number of shocking revelations about activities behind the scenes of the high school drama in his new memoir "Behind The Bell".

In one chapter, titled 'A.C. Makes the Ladies Scream', Diamond claims Lopez was a womanizer who regularly used his fame as character A.C. Slater to take advantage of female fans.

He writes, "(Lopez) hit on every co-star, every extra, every production assistant and every fan he found himself sitting next to."

Lopez was at the center of a date-rape scandal in 1993, when a teenage girl accused him of luring her back to his house and forcing himself on her.

A police investigation was launched but the TV hunk, who denied the claims, was never arrested and no charges were filed against him.

Diamond alleges the young girl only chose not to press charges after NBC network chiefs paid her $50,000 to "keep her mouth shut".

But the 32 year old insists he was not surprised when the date-rape case came to light, admitting, "He didn't take no for an answer."

Representatives for NBC and Lopez have refused to comment on Diamond's claims.

Who does he think he is, that he can talk about everybody else, and poor ol Screech is perfect, that nothing can be said about him in return? He has another thing coming, if he thinks that. He is bitter that post SBTB opportunities did not happen for him. He could have chosen to leave the role of Screech behind after the College Years was canceled, but he is the one who chose to keep playing the character in the sequel New Class series. now after Mark-Paul has done NYPD Blue and now the TNT legal drama (can't remember the title at the moment) and Mario, who did Pacific Blue and Dancing with the Stars and is the current host of Extra--Dustin just seems to be very bitter. He could have chosen to have had the most positive outlook on his TWO outings of Celebrity Fit Club, be applauded for being a gracious contestant and had good things result from that. But he didn't.....and he just keeps burying himself further and further.

I remember hearing details of the alleged rape back in 1993 but it was never a major news story. I think it must have been settled out of court very quickly because I never heard anything about it again - until now.

Dustin is a huge douche. I sort of remember hearing about the rape story. But there are many false accusations and often a false accusation is used to get money from lawsuits. Like DSfan said we will never know if there was truth to the rape accusation.

On Celebrity Fit Club his true colors came out. I think the other five cast members of SBTB have done well. Even though Elizabeth Berkley's career hurt a little due to Showgirls she seems to have good control of her life.

I'm not one to defend Mr. Diamond, but he didn't go too far here. I know of the story and it's my understanding that it's true. For all intensive purposes, Mario Lopez is a sex offender, even though he never faced any criminal prosecution. I'm not sure why Mario did this though. He's a very good looking guy. I can't fathom him having to rape a girl just to get some. But then again, I've seen serial rapists that were good looking. So who knows...

I know - Mario Lopez is the kind of guy that almost any woman would gladly have a fling with. Then again, he supposedly cheated on his new wife Ali Landry very shortly after the wedding (and she had the marriage annulled two weeks after exchanging vows). I don't know if the rape story is true but he certainly does seem to have a wandering eye.

Why would you be ignorant enough to cheat on somebody who looks like Ali Landry? Dustin just strikes me as a bully - someone who was picked on as a kid and is now lashing back. Most likely it's because the rest of the SBTB cast avoided being typecast and he didn't. Mainly he just needs to get over it already.
