It was a Portuguese speaking fortune teller (aka fortune taker) who cheated a family member out of $90,000 dollars by claiming the family was under a curse and she would need $15,000 for each family member to transfer it to the money. The money was left in a chest for a certain number of days, the family then had the police opening it up, being suspicious of something. They found several $1 bills stacked with a bunch of folded newspapers in the shape of bills. It turned out the woman was a cheat, as fortune tellers usually are. Does anyone remember the name of the cheater and if she was ever caught?

Her name was Elana Suza and I don't know if she's ever been caught. Actually, I don't think this case has ever been discussed her. How devestating for that family! The fortune teller also told the family that the daughter would never marry and the son would soon die. I hope that horrible women gets caught.

Was this the one where she used fake blood and chicken meat to pull "tumors" out of the person's belly button?

When my husband was a kid in the 70s, his parents took him to a traveling church revival type thing. Jimmy Swaggart was the primary speaker.

Swaggart used this technique to convince the audience that he could heal people so they should put more money in the collection plate.

No, that was someone else, an Asian guy, but can't remember his name. I believe he got caught by a couple of under-cover police officers.
