Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of Kiss

If Kiss has it their way, they'll get to "rock & roll all nite" in music's greatest home: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band has been eligible for years but this is the first they have been nominated along with Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, LL Cool J, ABBA, the Chantels and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. "It's a real honor to be nominated in our first year of eligibility. Obviously the Hall of Fame has excellent musical taste," Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith told Billboard

The acts gain a shot at the Hall of Fame 25 years after their first single or album. A group of more than 500 musicians and music professionals will vote on the group, and winners will be honored at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on March. 15.

The Hall of Fame is also having a 25th anniversary concerts on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 at New York's Madison Square Garden, and will be releasing the book "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: The First 25 Years" along with a nine-DVD boxed set, "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live."

No makeup, no costumes are necessary. I just want the four of them together accepting the induction, bringing the greatest chapter in their history to a close.

If that was the final time they ever appeared together on stage, I would be very happy.

As time goes on I think so so called rock hall of fame becomes more and more irrelevant. There are still loads of people from the 50's and 60's, and pre rock influences, and several people who worked behind the scenes that have not gotten their due. Now that Jann Wenner has the final say as to who gets in, they should change the name to the Rolling Stone rock hall of fame.



No surprise Obama is going to be there, Wenner spends a good portion of his magazine sucking up to him.

They chose Genesis over The Moody Blues? Genesis was highly influenced by The Moody Blues, both the Moody Blues and Procol Harum should be nominated at the same time since they both formed Prog-Rock bands such as Genesis and Rush!

I agree the Stones are a great band and they make great music. But these guys are in their 60's and because of the rock and roll lifestyle they have lived they could easily pass for even older than that. That's all I meant.

:yeahthat You do have to admire their longevity - I think the only band that was around as long as them was the Bee Gees before Maurice Gibb passed on. The Stones have a great body of music ("Start Me Up" is one of my all-time faves) but I can't resist poking a little fun of them from time to time. :lol:
