my brother comes down for the weekends, down my Dad's where I live, so I don't get to talk to my maternal grandparents who live down where my mom lives a lot anymore, although to my laziness, they are only a phone call away. anyways, my brother told me granddad was in the hospital again, for the same reasons as he was before. last christmas we visited him because he was put in the hospital because he wasn't taking care of himself- not eating properly, not eating enough, high sugar levels (he is a diabetic so he has to realllyyyy watch himself, especially since he is in his 80s). we were visiting him on christmas day i remember. anyways, he's back in for the same thing. the part that kills me, besides him being in the hospital, is the fact that he collapsed and my grandmother found him in the back den on the floor passed out. she called 911 i think, or my mom, and they got him to the ER fast. i am just wondering if she is ok as well, seeing him like that. she might of thought he was dead, you never know. and it could of happened, and it could happen again in the future, along with being in the hospital. i say that to say this. if you have grandparents still alive, keep in touch with them and be around them as much as possible. they are the greatest to talk to if you need help, and are pretty funny, and whimsical as well. thanks.

thank you monika and I am sorry you no longer have yours. it really sucks. when I lost my other grandfather, the only grandparent I have lost to date, I was 9 and I felt younger then that. I just didn't understand the circumstances. He smoked his whole life since he was 9  it is pretty shocking yet understandable since 90% or more of people back then smoked cigarettes, but he did it at such a young age. Christ, my paternal grandfather who I am talking about, not the one in the hospital, started smoking at the same age that I was when he died of smoking. That is some crazy but sad irony.

Thank you. My mom's father passed away before I was born - I wish I could've known him. I was very close to my mom's mom - who died in 1995 when I was nearly 16. Over 14 years later, I still miss her so much. My father's parents died in 2000 and 2002. I wasn't as close to them as my siblings were (and as close as I was to my other grandma) but we still did tons of stuff with them and I still have good memories of those times. It feels like forever - another lifetime.

I'm glad to hear that your grandfather is out of the hospital, Kyle. This scare may prompt you to call him more. Sometimes almost losing someone (or even something), can make us realize how much they mean to us. I hope he continues to recover and regains more of his strength ever day.

I'm glad that your Grandfather is out of the hospital Kyle. Hopefully everything will be okay from here on out. :)

You are very right about Grandparents. I don't have any left but I did know 3 of them .I was especially close with my Maternal Grandmother. I miss her so much. I remember we used to sit on her front porch and talk and sing songs. She would read to me. She was the greatest Grandma that anyone could ever have.:(
