Katie Couric told the New York Times that, despite her newscast's low ratings and all of last year’s speculation that she was on the way out, she will remain as the anchor of the “CBS Evening News” until her contract expires in 2011.

She told the Times in the interview, “I think reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.”

She's also adding to her duties. The Times said CBS will announce today that Couric will showcase her interviewing skills as host of a weekly one-on-one interview webcast starting tomorrow on CBSNews.com.

If I was making her kind of money, I'd stay on, too!

Katie must be doing something right if ABC is replacing Charles Gibson with Diane Sawyer on "WORLD NEWS" next year...that means TWO female anchors will compete against each other on nightly network newscasts.

I must admit, Couric is finding her "bearings" on the "CBS EVENING NEWS". At least, no one these days is demanding she leave "next year"...
