View Full Version : Musical Scavenger Hunt Game, How Well Do You Pay Attention to the Lyrics?
Zoneboy 09-18-2009, 03:14 PM I tried this in the games forum but apparently nobody wanted to play so let's try it here.
Rules:
Each round will consist of 10 items that are found within the lyrics of certain songs.
Chances are that some objects will be found within the lyrics of more than one song. If so, You will receive credit for a correct answer regardless of whether or not it's the title I had in mind.
The objects I'm looking for will not appear in the song titles themselves. For example, If I'm looking for a Diamond Ring then the song "This Diamond Ring" isn't eligible because that would be too easy.
All songs used will be ones that you know and love (well maybe love)
Round 1 begins with the next post

#10 - Hotel California(of course)
Man, I know #5!! I'll need more time.
Wreckless 09-28-2009, 05:37 PM shouldn't you name the lyrics with the song Phoebe? Just so it makes things easier and we know that you're not just putting random songs down :).
Wreckless 09-28-2009, 05:44 PM #08- prescription- Eminem- Deja Vu
"To a harder prescription drug called Valium like ya that’s great
I go to take just one and i end up like having eight."

"we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl."
phoebe7165 09-28-2009, 08:09 PM and we know that you're not just putting random songs down :).
Oh, I would never do that!!:D
Well, it wasn't mentioned in Charles's post about actually putting the lyrics, but since it is a lyrics game, that would make sense!!;)
#1 Blue Morning, Blue Day
"Another sleepless night, three cups of coffee, but I can't clear my head"
#3
"Cheeseburger in Paradise, Heaven on earth with an onion slice, not too particular not too precise, I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise"
#10 Hotel California
"Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice"
Wreckless 09-28-2009, 08:13 PM Oh, I would never do that!!:D

I know you wouldn't. And I don't think # 3 counts, only because you can't come up with one that has the name of the item in the song title.
so cheeseburger in paradise wouldn't count, but # 1 & # 10 do :) ;).
phoebe7165 09-28-2009, 08:46 PM I know you wouldn't. And I don't think # 3 counts, only because you can't come up with one that has the name of the item in the song title.
so cheeseburger in paradise wouldn't count, but # 1 & # 10 do :) ;).
Yeah, it just seemed too easy.
Just like #5 -
There are at least 2 songs called "A Puppet on a String", one by Elvis Presley and one by Dokken, and it has that lyric in the song, but since it's the title, I'm sure it doesn't count. But I know it's another song, and it bugs me because I know this!! I think when somebody else gets it, I'll end up smacking my forehead!!;)
Wreckless 09-28-2009, 09:22 PM Yeah, it just seemed too easy.

Yeah I know, it sucks. I was thinking about that Elvis song too, and I was about to post it for # 5 and I was like Crap, it has the lyrics in the song title  lol so I couldn't use it as well when I thought of it. We have 2 each though. 6 remaining.
Zoneboy 09-28-2009, 09:38 PM Wreckless has 3 correct:
"Brown Eyed Girl"
"Deja Vu"
"Wish You Were Here"
Phoebe has 2 correct:
"Blue Morning Blue Day"
"Hotel California"
#8. Is still up for grabs because "Deja Vu" wasn't the song I was looking for but Wreckless still gets credit for it.

I thought we just had to come up with a song that had those lyrics in the song lol. Ok thanks.
Schmoopie 09-29-2009, 05:19 AM I think I know #5...
Is it "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" By the Bee Gees? That was the first song that came to mind when I read the clue.
Lyrics in question are:
I , I just want to be your evrything
Open up the heaven in your heart and let me be
The things you are to me and not some puppet on a string
Oh , if I stay here without you , darling , I will die
I want you laying in the love I have to bring
Id do anything to be your evrything
This is a very cool game! Sorry I didn't see it earlier!
Schmoopie 09-29-2009, 05:25 AM I found one for #9...
Backwards by the Rascal Flats
You get your house back
You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jack back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing
Your pretty little thing
Your bling bling bling and a diamond ring
Your get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
First night in jail with Charlie
You get your mind back
you get your nerves back
Your first heart attack back
You get your pride back
You get your life back
You get your first real love back
You get your big screen TV, a DVD and a washing machine
You get the pond and the lawn
The bail and the mower
You go back where you don't know her
It sounds a little crazy a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get
When you play a country song backwards
Wreckless 09-29-2009, 05:50 AM oooh this is stiff competition lol.
Wreckless 09-29-2009, 05:52 AM is # 4- Paul Simon- Kodachrome?
"I got a Nikon camera, I love to take a photograph. So mama don't take my Kodachrome away."

YES!! :thanx: I knew I knew this lyric!
Technically though, you're close, but it was Andy Gibb who actually recorded the song. I'm sure his brothers wrote it though!!:D
Wreckless 09-29-2009, 08:49 PM charles, update us here lol. andrea 2 possibly and I really think Kodachrome has the nokia camera in it.

That's what I thought but when I Googled it (okay, I admit that I cheated, is that allowed? Is this an open internet test? ), it came up as the Bee Gees, but you're right. It was Andy Gibb. I miss him.:(
Schmoopie 09-30-2009, 04:27 AM charles, update us here lol. andrea 2 possibly and I really think Kodachrome has the nokia camera in it.
You're right, it does. I love that song!
So which ones are we missing, or do we need some new clues?

Yeah, it always bugged me with the song "Emotion". Samantha Sang actually recorded it, but everytime it's played on the radio, the DJ says it's the Bee Gees. Yes, they wrote it and they do backing vocals but that's it. The DJ still says it's the Bee Gees.
OK, back to the game.
Zoneboy 09-30-2009, 07:19 PM charles, update us here lol. andrea 2 possibly and I really think Kodachrome has the nokia camera in it.
"Kodachrome" is correct and so is "I Just Want to Be Your Everything". The song by Rascal Flatts wasn't the title I was looking for but I will accept it.
More clues:
Washboard: This group had 6 songs to hit #2 on the charts but never scored a #1 song. They're also known by their initials.
A Porch Swing: Another object in the lyrics is a blender.
A Precription: I can't think of a better clue so I'll just tell you that the song is by a group that have been around for over 40 years.
A Cheeseburger: This appears at the very end of the song when the singer yells for someone to give him a cheeseburger.

LOL, That's correct. "Thunder Island" gets a lot of airplay around here and it was a top 20 hit so I would say it's fairly well known although maybe not as well as some of the other songs I've used.
I thought #10 would be a cinch but I'll give you another clue. This artist had several hits on the country charts but was a one hit wonder on the pop charts with this crossover tune.

i think I have an unfair advantage in that the radio station we have piped in at work plays all of these songs 24/7 - the tough part is remembering what the heck the names of the songs are.

I think you mean "shiny new dimes," as in the Eight is Enough theme?
"Oh, we spend our days like bright and shiny new dimes,
And if we're ever puzzled by the changing times..."
Also, Round 14's #8 is "Ode to Billie Joe" by Bobbie Gentry:
"It was the 3rd of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day,
I was out picking cotton and my brother was baling hay..."
Zoneboy 10-24-2009, 03:20 AM I think you mean "shiny new dimes," as in the Eight is Enough theme?
Every lyrics source I've found says dime but you're right.
