Congrats to Bewitched, truly a one of a kind show (at least when it started, lol) that will always be remembered fondly.

(p.s. September 17th 1978 was the debut of the one, the true, the original "Battlestar: Galactica". ;) )

And don't forget David 'Adam' Lawrence. I also say that Warner should open up the Ranch for Tours of the Bewitched block in honor of the shows anniversary. Who's with me on this?

Especially, in my opinion, in the Dick York era. I thought Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York had incredible chemistry and made the romance between Samantha and Darrin so believable.

YES!! There was real electricity and passion between Sam and Darrin when Dick York played him. No offense to Dick Sargent, but those elements totally vanished when he took over the role. We should all aspire to have a love like Samantha & Darrin (#1)'s!! :D

That's right, because all those shows were shot on the same lot and produced by the same company (Screen Gems).

Actually, David AND Greg Lawrence, plus Diane Murphy. Adam was played by twins, just like Diane also played Tabitha (until Erin completely took over the role).

If someone else other than DY had played Darrin when the show debuted, I don't think it would have been as successful(because of the chemistry with the actors on the show)

I agree that he and EM had great chemistry

According to DY himself (in his posthumously published memoir), even though he was happily married he had a crush on Liz. I doubt if he ever acted on it off camera (not only because of his own marriage but because Liz was married to the show's main director/producer), but I think it comes across strongly in the episodes. The electricity still comes through and made it all the more real.

Here is the info on Dick York's book. Quite a read!! :D

You'll need it - but not because it's sad. I mean, some parts are sad, naturally. But most of it is just inspiring - little vignettes of his life. I mean, how could you go wrong with his takes on Liz:

"I first fell in love with Elizabeth Montgomery by leg distance."

"She was sex all over...you still are, Lizzie, you still are. I've seen you lately, and you've still got that certain thing."

Re: shooting the honeymoon scene in the pilot: "When she sat on my lap and melted into my arms and kissed me, I didn't care whether she was a witch, the former head of the Gestapo, or - oh, name anybody you're afraid of and are attracted to at the same time."

Yes, I can already see you , Mickey. :D

I'm gonna check out that book too. I don't know much about Dick York. Actually I know nothing about him except that he was Darrin Stevens. Very sad, I know but that will soon change!

In reference to the anniversary, is anything special planned as far as TV specials or merchandise is concerned? I doubt that a TV show would air now, considering that the networks MUST leave time for their precious reality shows. Ugh...

There's a lot to know. He was married to the same woman for over 40 years until he passed and had 5 kids!! Of course, none of the channels would spare their precious reality/informercial time to air any homages to a classic show like this...

Here in Michigan we have what is called MelCat. What that is is you can check out books/DVD's/CD's etc from other libraries that choose to participate. You request what you want and your local library will notify you when whatever you checked out has arrived. See if your library offers something similar to that.
