sounds like a longshot but they believe he was in area and looked similar to sketch at the time.

Yes, he does, though it must be noted that the picture of him of is apparently from about 10 years earlier than when the abduction of Micheala took place. So he may not have had the long hair in 1988 when Michaela was taken. Many news agencies are not reminding people that the photo is from roughly 1978 (sorry I'd have to check another board to see exact age of picture).

One thing that bothers me about assuming Garrido's involvement here is that Michaela's friend said the abductor was in his late teens or early twenties. Garrido would have been much older in 1988. Although, Michaela's friend was quite young at the time, so she could have been off on the age estimate.

Ultimately, I'm not sure what to make of this. I can certainly understand the Garrecht family getting excited and wanting there to be a solution to Michaela's abduction in this mess. But, I want some more concrete evidence before I'll believe that Garrido and Michaela's abductor were one in the same.
