Jekyll & Hyde Promo Art and Full Synopsis
Monday, September 14, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

Beyond the break you'll find the promo sales art and full synopsis for Abel Ferrara's Jekyll & Hyde, which stars Forest Whitaker and rapper Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.

The film is a re-imagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," which will be contemporized and titled Jekyll and Hyde.

"Dr Jekyll is a rich doctor of great generosity who lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Mr Hyde is a sadistic murderer with a reputation that strikes fear in to the hearts of people throughout New York. Peter Utterson, Dr Jekyll's lawyer and friend, investigates the mystery of who Mr Hyde is and why he is the sole beneficiary of Jekyll's will.

The devastating answer is that Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are the same person and the urgent problem is how to kill the beast without destroying the man."

WHITAKER TALKS JEKYLL

In an interview with MTV, Forest Whitaker talks about his forthcoming role in Jekyll and Hyde, the adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 1886 novella "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" that will also star 50 Cent.

"It's a father-son kind of relationship," he tells the site adding that he'll play Jekyll and 50 would play Hyde.

"It's also [an interesting script] because we are dealing with similar things. You know, this Jekyll has a lot of issues and problems personally, himself. Hidden passions, hidden perversions — and it's acted out by 50."

Abel Ferrara will be directing.

Whitaker Out of Modern Jekyll & Hyde
Source: Shock Till You Drop

Regardless of Warner Bros.' interest in the project, Jekyll and Hyde might have to happen without Forest Whitaker.

This modern take on the Robert Louis Stevenson classic tale would have reunited the actor with director Abel Ferrera, nevertheless, Whitaker confirmed to Shock Till You Drop today - while out promoting Repo Men - that he is no longer attached to the film.

Whitaker was set to star alongside 50 Cent. The former playing Dr. Jekyll, the latter as Mr. Hyde.

Plans for the film were first announced last May. Warner Bros. revealed its intentions to distribute in the U.S. several months later.

Is this gonna be a action flick or a drama?

From what I can guess (if it ever happens) is that it will be a violent drama.

Ok. Is anybody gonna replace Forest Whitaker? Sucks that he won't be in it.

50 Cent should stick to acting since his rap albums suck hahahahahahahaha. His mixtapes are pretty good though.

How many re-imaginings of this story do we need? Jekyll + Hyde, Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde, Edge of Sanity, Dr. Jekyll and His Women, The Adult Version of Jekyll & Hide, Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde, The Man with Two Heads(and that's not counting the many many closer adaptations)...evidently not enough.

Speaking of how many versions there are, Keanu Reeves is currently doing Jekyll.

Abel Ferrara's Jekyll & Hyde Won't Be Happening

It looks as if Warner Bros. Pictures' modern Jeykll & Hyde adaptation won't be happening.

Both Forest Whitaker and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson were attached with Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant) just about ready to get behind the camera -- only something went wrong.

"He could be an awesome Ed Hyde. He's the real deal," Ferrara tells The Guardian as he looks at a photo of 50 Cent.

"But it's not gonna get made...Warner Brothers have put up about one fifth of what the film should cost and want about one third of what it's gonna make, and I'm supposed to kiss the feet of whoever made that deal."

Ferrara continues, "They never made Jekyll & Hyde the way it was written. It's a guy and his creation. Having one actor play both parts is an abomination, a distortion of Stevenson's story. It's a masterpiece. I'm gonna make it one day."

I see 50 Cent has 2 new straight to video movies that are action flicks. I saw them on the Redbox movies vending machine. I'm gonna see if Blockbuster Video has them.

Few months back I saw a new one he did called Caught in the Crossfire. He has a small role but the movie was pretty good.

Have you gotten a movie from Redbox JamesG? I haven't yet but if all the Blockbuster Videos in my area go outta business, i will be forced to get some movies from there LOL. I will be upset if all the Blockbuster's go outta business. I don't mind buying movies online but i'm pissed at Amazon.com for changing their payment policy because they used to accept money orders.

I haven't gotten anything from Redbox. There is a local place near me that sells old and new used DVDs for about $2.50 so I mostly get that.

A Blockbuster in my area recently closed within the last couple of months, the chain seems to be slowly dying.
