After Taylor Swift -- who is just 19-years-old, mind you -- won the award for Best Female Video at the VMAs, Kanye rushed the stage, took the mic from her, and proclaimed Beyonce had "one of the best videos of all-time."

For her part, Beyonce looked completed mortified by Kanye's childish actions.

No respect for anyone at all. Taylor Swift should have kneed him in the junk for stealing her moment.

If Beyonce had any respect for her fellow nominee, she would condemn Kanye's actions.

What a pompous arse! He had absolutely no right to steal her moment like that. They should ban him from being able to attend future award ceremonies. It would be such poetic justice if he were to win an award next year and wasn't allowed to be there to accept it!

Ugh. My suitemates and I are all watching the VMA's together and when that happened, all of our jaws just dropped. How unbelieveably rude, the poor girl looked like she was ready to cry. Good for her for redeeming herself with her performance. She should've told Kanye to suck it when she was done because she did a great job. There were about 10,000 facebook status updates literally seconds after it happened denouncing Kanye's actions. He screwed himself big time.

Enjoy this video commentary on the subject.

I saw this at MTV.com

But his verbal attack against Swift had a more vicious tone. According to a tweet from Jay-Z's DJ, Neil Armstrong, Swift and her mother were seen backstage crying afterward; Beyoncé brought Swift onstage for another chance at her acceptance speech later in the show. Various celebs have lashed out against West on Twitter, including Pink, who had to be escorted away from the rapper by security.

Good I hope he gets an ass kicking(not literally, just verbally), what he did was unexcusable. His excuse in the past was he had too much to drink.

BS, that doesn't excuse moronic behavior

At around the same time, West took to his blog to deliver one of his familiar all-caps posts (edited into sentence case here) addressing the situation.

"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," he wrote. "I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!

"Beyoncé's video was the best of this decade!!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin' the show at the crib right now cause ... well you know!!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!!! Boooyaaawwww!!!! I like some of Kanye's music but I really don't respect him as a person. I felt bad for Taylor. It was her win and her moment. Kanye was wrong to "speak" for Beyonce. I have always thought Beyonce is an ok person. I really don't like her dad. He has a horrible repuation and various people including past members of Destiny's Child have talked about his manipulations. Beyonce has been in the music business for years. She probably didn't care that she lost an award to Taylor Swift. Kanye must thinking winning awards is everything in his career. He shouldn't have went and whined about another person not winning an award. It seems that a lot of celebs are turning on Kanye after this incident.

Then again, he was talking about Beyonce winning it, but it's along the same lines roughly.

I can admit that he's somewhat talented ("Gold Digger" is catchy, as is "Heartless," and I liked his part of "American Boy" with Estelle), but his stank personality just ruins that so much. For many celebrities, their talent is much better than their personality is bad, so it's easy to let cockyness or arrogance or whatever slide, but Kanye has firmly put his stank personality miles above his talent, and the solution to that equation is: KANYE U SUQ.

OMG. Yes, what he did was horrible, I sat there with my jaw to the floor like everyone else, and he is an egotistical ass (like 90% of the industry is), but Jesus Christ. People are soooooo overdramatic and the littlest of things can start a "LETS DESTROY HIS CAREER" plan. I saw the interview with Jay Leno, and I do think he is sorry. I think he is mentally unstable and moreso since his mother died, which is obvious if you listen to the tone of his last album. Music stations refusing to play his music?! WTF. He was incredibly rude and drunk, but people act as if he punched Taylor in the face. BTW Taylor said she didn't want this to become a huge deal and accepted the apology. Kanye has always been a *****. Yes, I understand it was wrong for her to hurt her feelings in that way, but people saying stations shouldn't play his music and Kanye should be barred from ever doing this or that is just ridiculous in my opinion.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if some stations stopped playing his music. I mean, look at all the backlash Faith Hill got over the Carrie Underwood thing...and that was clearly a joke. Some stations pulled her songs at first, and she was criticized left and right. This is a ton more extreme, so nothing about it is shocking to me.

Unfortunatly, stupid people like Kanye West are going to continue with their rude, self centered and idiotic actions because people like you platinumblonde are going to constantly defend their behavior.

Kanye didn't punch Taylor!
So, we shouldn't be angry?

Kanye has done this before! That's what he doees!
So we have to accept that? That Kanye being Kanye sh*t doesn't fly with us normal people.

He was drunk, he didn't mean it!
Bullsh*t excuse! I'm a drinker, In fact, I'm an expert drinker, and I have never used that cop out answer.
That is a weak excuse used by cowards who do not want to take responsibilty for thier actions.

Oh, his Mom is dead. I'm really sorry about taht, but if he is troubled by that, then he has to get help, and not play out his own personal drama on the public.

Kanye West is dillusional. He thinks he is the greatest entertainer ever, and therefore whatever he does must be accepted by us, his loving adoring people.

You have to take a stand against the idiots who use fame as an excuse to do whatever they want. The only way to stop this kind of behavior is to finally say enough is enough.

Stop apologizing for them platinumnblonde and the other defenders of Kanye.

WHO is defending his behavior or apologizing for him?! Certainly not me... I said he is a ***** and it was a extremely rude thing to do. I think Kanye is ridiculous. I felt kind of like crying for her when that happened. But music stations banning his music because he ruined Taylor Swift's VMA moment!? Banning his music because he acts like an egotistical ass? In my opinion that is WAY overboard. Do you think every time a musician makes an ass of themself and does something rude, we should stop playing their music or movie theaters should stop playing movies with actors/actresses who behave badly in public? If Taylor Swift has moved on, I don't understand why no one else can. If you don't want to buy Kanye West's albums, tickets or listen to him on the radio, that's fine, but I find it ridiculous that people are advocating for stations to censor his music because he ruined Taylor Swift's VMA moment.

i agree that this would be an extreme reaction if this was his first offense but it isn't. he's had these outbursts numerous times. i can't stand when the alcohol excuse is used. in my opinion, when a person is drunk, it only magnifies their personality traits. if you're a happy, laid back person you'll most likely act even more goofy, silly etc. and if you're an a**hole then when you're drunk you become a raging a**hole.

and i don't think he's acting like this because his mom died. maybe thats made his behavior more outrageous but again he had these types of outbursts long before she died.

albeit, the events surrounding hurrican katrina were controversial, his rant on the katrina telethon was out of line. in a time of national crisis the last thing we needed was more upheaval. what he did to taylor swift only proves further what a moron he is.

You are making an excuse for him.

You might be misinterpreting what platinumblonde means? I don't think she is defending his behaviour, because I think she said that it was a very rude thing for him to do.

I don't think she is defending him, I think it's more that she's saying she isn't as angry about it as many other people are.

I don't know much about these two musicians but from the little I have learned from reading this thread, it seems like Kanye West has a history of being rude and self-centred, and that he needs to change, fast. It appears that Taylor swift is a better person. I can imagine she must have felt horrible about what happened and I can only sympathise with her.

What are you talking about!?

There is a general belief that the punishment for a crime should fit the crime. Of course, this isn't a legal issue, but I think that belief still holds. He shat all over the girl's moment, ruined the night for her, and lost many friends in his industry, but people are acting as if he got up there and verbally abused her. That's actually NOT me making excuses, it's me trying to put this back into perspective. People keep saying, "Oh, Taylor is such a sweet girl, such a role model, such a generous person, so forgiving..." Well damn, how about y'all take a cue from Taylor, you know, the actual victim in this whole thing, and get over it. She has. I'm sure she'd rather not be remembered as "the girl Kanye interrupted at the VMAs in 2009."

I AM NOT MAKING EXCUSES. Yes, and he's an ******* for that. But anyone who advocates censorship of music because someone acted like an ******* and had an outburst during another artist's ~*moment*~ is TAKING THIS WAY TOO SERIOUSLY, IN MY OPINION. If you don't like Kanye or don't want to support him is wonderful, if that is what you choose to do. Do you seriously advocate censoring artists and actors who have a history of *****-ish behavior, no matter how good their work?

The same thing happened to Faith Hill. Carrie Underwood forgave her immediately, yet it seemed to drag on forever. And this situation was much worse than that, so I don't see people letting up anytime soon.

Female Vocalist of the Year at the CMA's. Both were nominated and when it was announced that Carrie won, Faith very jokingly mouthed "WHAT?!" to the camera as if she was shocked that she didn't win. She knew, and everyone knew that Carrie was going to win, yet a bunch of morons blew it way out of proportion.

what censorship?

he's proven time and time again that he can't be trusted to behave like an adult at award functions, live events, talk shows, anything with animals or cameras present, etc, and it might be better for everyone involved (including himself) if he were banned from such events in the future.
