View Full Version : My thoughts on the eagles opener
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:18 PM Going into the season I had some questions about our defense and our young Defensive cooridinator... It is clear that Sean Mcdermott was a good student under JJ
I am quite pleased that I saw the same defense I have enjoyed since 1999... Mcdermott added his own wrinkles to the defense & overall Jake dellhome was under seige all afternoon... Interception after interception, sack after sack..That was the story of today...
The offense looked really good today, I hate how they ALWAYS start off like slugs, but once this team gets into a rhythm... They are dam tough to stop...
Winston Justice did an admirable job at RT against Julius Peppers... Only time I heard peppers name was on the blocked FG.. I think the kid has made great strides....
Carolina is one of the better teams in the NFC and we smashed them in their house... That is a very promising sign!!!
As with most good things when it comes to the eagles there is usually something bad that comes along...
DMAC went down with a broken rib & his status for next week is unknown... I just spoke to a friend of mine who travels with the eagles team & when they arrived back in philly it was determined that it " wasn't as bad as first thought"..
I am very happy with week 1... A solid team effort in a very convincing win IN carolina.... 1-0 with the saints looming next week...
Early thoughts on week 2... IF kolb is the starter which I think he will be, it could be a long afternoon for me in south philly...
EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:26 PM ooooookaaaaaaaay
what are you so uptight about...that the Eagles won today? lol.
We beat a 12-4 team. a hell of a team Carolina is.
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:28 PM The defense was ferocious all day long bro... Nothing negative you can say about that.... Offense didnt have to be good today!
I am not worried at all about the offense, all my worries were on D.
Your squad was sloppy to say the least as usual...
Brian Damage 09-13-2009, 09:28 PM We beat a 12-4 team. a hell of a team Carolina is.
um no, you beat a team with no record.
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:29 PM Your squad was sloppy to say the least as usual...
OH SH*T
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:30 PM um no, you beat a team with no record.

Brian Damage 09-13-2009, 09:30 PM Your squad was sloppy to say the least as usual...
again, you obviously weren't watching the same games
Brian Damage 09-13-2009, 09:31 PM we beat a 12-4 team. you mad?
no, you didn't beat anybody, the Eagles did and they beat an 0-0 team.
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:31 PM what are you so uptight about...that the Eagles won today? lol.
We beat a 12-4 team. a hell of a team Carolina is.
Carolina is a good team. Some people just cant give the eagles any credit... The eagles D DOMINATED
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:32 PM again, you obviously weren't watching the same games
eagles easily beat, a 12-4 playoff team, that went to the Divisional Round last season
giants barely beat an average, 8-8 team last year that didn't make the playoffs.
they don't show parallels. but I will say it's only Week 1. if we don't win anything, this win doesn't mean diddly squat at the end of the season when it matters, really.
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:32 PM again, you obviously weren't watching the same games
I would love to know what game you were watching
Brian Damage 09-13-2009, 09:33 PM Carolina is a good team. Some people just cant give the eagles any credit... The eagles DOMINATED
you and Kyle are homers, big difference
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:34 PM no, you didn't beat anybody, the Eagles did and they beat an 0-0 team.
why did you come in this thread? to pull a Solomon? if you make a thread about your thoughts on the giants-redskins game, I promise I won't come in, or at least if I read what you have to say, I won't make any posts in the thread.
we beat a 12-4 team Brian. it is a new year, but you look at the team's record last year, until the new one starts (basically until you finish the first game of the year). therefore carolina was 12-4 last year, and we ended up whooping them today.
Brian Damage 09-13-2009, 09:35 PM I would love to know what game you were watching
I have the NFL Sunday Ticket....you?
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:36 PM you and Kyle are homers, big difference
Right Brian.. Whatever you say... Anybody who really watched the game can see that the eagles D dominated... Period End... It doesnt take a homer to see that..Only a hater could deny that

to quote you and solomon.....what have you done for me lately
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:36 PM Mike & Brian, I thought you guys were good friends. Even when these MrIggles game thoughts threads came up in the past, you guys would never bring it to this level. lol what happened since then? even if Mike hates NY, and Brian, you hate the Eagles, you guys could still keep it on a level, unlike this. I am just curious what went on from that time period, until now.
mriggles 09-13-2009, 09:37 PM I have the NFL Sunday Ticket....you?
Well congrats welcome to 2009!

No offense, but New York fans are so great? You NY fans booed Alex Rodriguez, just because he didn't have 60 f ing homeruns. The guy gives it his all, and it's still not good enough. Smh.

yeah I can admit to our fans doing that.

throwing snowballs at basically everybody in the 1980s bounty bowl games.
see brian i know these things. you NY fans think you are perfect, and think fans are determined by how many championships are won. Wrong. It's about commitment. Philly fans sit in the stadiums even if their team is 5-11 or horrible basically. I don't know what NY fans do or would do in that situation, but I am just saying what I know of Philly fans to do.
We boo players if they don't perform, or if they are lackadaisical, like Jimmy Rollins not running out a ground ball. But we don't boo a player if he doesn't hit .300 and hit 60 homeruns. For christ's sake, it's ridiculous for A-Rod to live up to those standards, and to get booed if he only has 40 HRs, and not 50, or w/e.
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:49 PM I am sure Eagle fans would cheer that....along with booing Santa Claus and cheering 9/11
and the category is "again stating the obvious" for $500, Alex. Brian, I know these things.

Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:51 PM When was was A-rod booed for not hitting 60 home runs???
He was booed when he got to NY. The guy was hitting home runs left and right, and playing like an MVP, yet it wasn't good enough. You are telling me NY fans didn't boo him non-stop for the first 3/4 years he got their? It wasn't for hitting 60 home runs, I was just being enthusiastic. It was for who the hell knows what. Why did you guys boo him?

Kyle..Well said... I sit in that stadium and have for 18 yrs no matter what the record is not matter how hot or cold rain or snow... COMMITMENT & passion is what it is all about... The scrawny giant fan on the other hand doesn't go to night games... they don't go to 4 oclock games in dec... New york sports fans have no idea what being a fan is all about... if the eagles are 3-12 going into that last week will I be there... You bet your ass I will be & 67,000 others will be too... Giant fans on the other hand just sell their tickets to opposing teams fans because they dont want to waste their time..
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 09:55 PM you said it not me
no. you said you didn't like eagles fans basically, then Mike responded, then I just quoted you responding to his response. So no, I said nothing to start that fight.
Really, I have no clue why we are fighting. I am happy the Eagles won. The last thing I expected when Mike started and posted the thread, was a fight about this side stuff. You came in here upset for no reason, and you still haven't answered me, to why you posted in here, and why you are upset. Plus, your team WON Brian. Why is this fighting going on? I would understand if the Eagles had just beat the Giants or something, for you to be mad, but this is silly really. But amusing as well. Football is over with for me, for the day, and I have nothing else to do before going to bed.

Simply put, he was hitting hr's when the Yanks were up by 5 runs or down by 10, but when it came time in the clutch, he would strike out or hit into a double play.

Wreckless 09-13-2009, 10:03 PM Dude that is as classless of a statement as I have ever heard... Exhibit A of a NY sports fan
BINGO
and brian, all you f*cking care about is championships, if the yankees win 60 games all year, you wouldn't go to one f*cking game if they were under .500. Commitment >> winning. Cause commitment is called actually being a real fan, and being their for your team, regardless of Wins, Losses and CHAMPIONSHIPS. That is what a NY fan is about. You wouldn't be their one min. if they were bad. Typical.

man this sh*t is getting heated lol.
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 10:13 PM I tried ending this too with him Mike. Even if I said it was amusing, it was until he crossed the line. And he talks about how we cheered when Irvin suffered his career ending injury in Philly, yet he was laughing in the other thread when McNabb got hurt. He probably does that everytime McNabb gets hurt.

I'll do whatever the hell I want, when I want, for whatever reason I please. You are not my parent. And you got some balls. You complain more then anybody on here and anybody I know in general, you base player's careers on one game usually, you NEVER give teams credit, mostly the Eagles, you make lame excuses. When you said the Phillies weren't going to win, I shut your ass up, and the best thing you came up with is "I got gas." F*ck outta here. I'll stay in here each week like I did last year. You only choose to remember what you want Solomon- really though.
Wreckless 09-13-2009, 10:39 PM And to add to the point about me staying in here, look back- I was in here for the Washington loss (the first one), the MNF loss to Dallas, the loss to the Bears, the loss to the Giants and pretty much every other game, and loss specifically.

I'm just saying you can't tease me in week 18 and then when yall lose you run away for 3 months. That's gay, we are all grown men on this board, success or failure. You have to stick around as painful as it maybe because that's what men do, they deal with it until the end.

Things get heated when talking about sports or politics. I admit I lost my cool, but you need to understand this goes deeper than just a message board with Mike and myself. I have known the guy for 8 years now and in those 8 years talks more smack about the Giants than anybody.

I just wanted Janice to keep the apology on here, so you would of seen it, cause I sincerely meant it. I understand that. Yeah he dislikes the Giants, so maybe you two should just try not to talk about football for a few weeks, at least in person. don't you work in the same facility though? so it makes it really hard. If we both admit we were wrong, which we did, I don't see why we can't move past this. i will be doing that. MNF tonight ;).

Yeah It was just me doing the smack talk right?? Dont you worry Brian... No more sports talk between you and I... That sept 11th comment stooped way lower than I would ever go
I have been making these weekly commentaries on the eagles games for several years now...No one is forcing you to look at them let alone respond to them...

No offense Mike, you are the type to dish it, but you sure as heck can't take it. Please spare me your feigned outrage over the 9/11 comment.

You really dont know me as well as I thought you did Bro if you think I can't take it... What I can't take is someone who just can't give a team credit when they do something good

I am going to break it down like this Mike, at work, all you do is talk alot of **** and when you are called out on it, you become like a dog who is painted into a corner.

Called out on it??? That is funny... By who you???? Thats even funnier..
mriggles 09-14-2009, 03:38 PM I am still not sure how all this became personal Brian... its one thing to rag on each others teams but its another to make it personal... Lets just end it and not let this go any further so that one of us says something they will regret
