View Full Version : Please say a prayer for my mom!!
Brad Russ 09-12-2009, 12:30 AM She went to the doctor earlier this week, and they found some serious things wrong with her. The first thing was her neck. Apparantely it is all out of whack, and the doctors think that she's going to need a second surgery on it. They also found that her left shoulder is in bad shape, and will also likely need to be operated on it. The worst news involved her spine though. Apparantely it's not in very good shape, as she has severe rheumatoid arthritis all through her spine, and there's a possibility that it may even need to be operated on one day. I'm pretty scared, because my best friend in the world has similar problems, and I know what kind of pain she's had to deal with, and has to deal with on a daily basis, and it hurts me to know she's in such bad pain. :( Knowing that my mom may be heading down a similar road frightens me, which is why your prayers are so important to me. My mom works a very physical job where she has to clean rooms, and dining rooms all day, and she comes home in severe pain each evening. She's going in for further testing next week, so please pray that the results aren't too bad, and also pray that her doctor prescribe her more pain medication. She hardly receives any, and desperately needs more. Once she receives all the test results back, she's going to have evidence of all her problems, and is going to apply for disability, which I've been trying to talk her into getting for years. Anyway, I know many of you have had my back in tough situations before, and I thank you all in advance for reading this, and for keeping her in your prayers, and/or thoughts. Thanks again, and God Bless!!
Marvo301 09-12-2009, 12:36 AM I will definitely include your Mom in my prayers Brad.
James"Thunder"Early 09-12-2009, 12:38 AM I'll keep her in my prayers.
LuLu Rogers 09-12-2009, 12:38 AM I love talking to your mom, she's a precious lady! I will keep her in my prayers, deep in my heart I know that everything's going to be alright with her. Let her know I'm thinking of her, God bless her sweet spirit! Don't worry Brad, just keep praying for her and be there for her, that's the best thing you can do right now :bighug:
Nighthawk76 09-12-2009, 12:39 AM I'm very sorry to hear about your mom, Brad. I'll say a prayer for her in church this weekend. I hope that the doctor will be able to give her something to relieve the pain.
Janice 09-12-2009, 01:14 AM Brad, I'm so sad to hear this. Often people don't realize that your neck is your spine, and neck pain can be unbearable. I don't know how your mother even works every day. If I was denied SS Disability, I wouldn't go out and get a job. I couldn't work if there was a million dollars involved, and I'm not kidding. It sounds like your mother's spine problems are spreading. I truly hope that's not the case. I know it's me you're referring to, and that's okay, Brad. My prayers are with your mother and with you. I know how much you love and adore her, and worry about her.
Wreckless 09-12-2009, 01:16 AM sorry to hear that. i will pray for your mom. hope she is feeling better, and has a speedy recovery.
Brad Russ 09-12-2009, 01:30 AM Thanks so much for your kind words and wishes Marvo, James, Lauren, Mike, Janice, and Kyle!!! Your words and prayers mean so much to me, and they most definitely will to my mom as well. I just told her that I started a prayer thread for her, and told her she already got 6 responses. When I told her your guys' names, her reply was: Wow, even guys responded!!! That made me laugh out loud, she's so cute!! lol! When everyone has replied, I plan on copying this thread for her, just as I did when she had her heart surgery, and she'll get to read all of your guys' kind words of support. Thanks again, you guys are awesome!!!

Thanks for saying this Lauren, as you are so right. She is very precious, and has such a great spirit. Seeing the way she deals with her problems with such courage, optimism, and strength baffles me, and I wish I had a fraction of that courage in me. She rarely ever complains, and is always more worried about how everyone else is feeling, than her own well-being. She certainly is one of a kind, and I know I won the lottery in the mom department!! :)

Thanks Janice, I love you soooooo much!!! You're right, it was you that I was referring to. I've spent so much time crying just thinking about what pain you've gone through, and continue to go through in your life, and I know I've said it before, but I'd take your pain on myself in a split second if I knew it would make you better. I'm just so glad of the good news you received recently. I know it doesn't take away the pain, but anything that helps to make your life a bit easier puts a smile on my face, and you will always be in my prayers. I will never stop praying for you, EVER!!! :)
Thanks so much for your kind words about my mom, it truly touches my heart. I too am amazed at the way she gets up each morning, and does the work she does. It's sad watching her wake up each morning, as she can barely even walk. :( The good thing is that her boss has given her a very flexible schedule, and allows her to work at her own pace. Still obviously doesn't take away the pain, but anything to make things a bit easier for her gives me a big sense of relief. I will surely tell her everything that you said, as she always lights up when I tell her that you or Tara have spoken highly of her. Ever since her heart surgery, and the big way you two reached out, she's had a special place in her heart for you both. She always asks atleast a couple times a week, how is Janice doing, or how is Tara doing?? She is crazy about you both, and I know your words will mean the world to her. Thanks again my friend!!! :)

Brad Russ 09-25-2009, 02:06 AM Thanks again for your continued prayers everyone!! It gives both my mom and I a great deal of comfort. :) Here's a little update for you all. She's going in for neck surgery on October 12th. She also has everyone at her work praying for her, so I know that God will definitely be with her. Me and Donna are going bowling on Sunday, and my mom is coming too. She said she wanted to bowl one last time, just incase she's not able to after her neck surgery, and with her health continuing to worsen in the years to come. So we plan on having a great time on Sunday!!! :D Anyway, thanks again, I love you guys!!!
coffield3 09-25-2009, 02:55 PM I'm sorry about your mum, she is in my prayers and thoughts.

I knew there was a good reason you weren't around. I'm sorry to hear that your mother is having health problems. I will pray, pray, and pray some more for her. Neck surgery, that's a scary thing. A Neurosurgeon told me two weeks ago that it's in my future. I'm glad that your Mom is going to finally apply for disability. It takes a while, so it's best that she gets it going. It's the best thing I ever did. Have fun bowling with your two favorite gals! We need to chat soon.

Thanks so much Janice!! I wonder if it's possible to love someone more with each day that passes?? Judging by how much you mean to me, I'd say the answer is a resounding yes. ;) You're just always there for me, and you're one of the most loyal people in my life, and I thank you for that. Yeah, I took a little time away, and have been spending most of my time with my mom over the last couple weeks. I did check into facebook for a moment or two every couple days, so that everyone would know I was okay, as I didn't want to worry anyone again. I feel horrible because I have like 10 pm's and emails that I need to respond to, but haven't been able to just because of everything that's been going on. Hopefully those friends will understand, and can forgive me. My mom is so brave!! Within the past 4 years, she's gone through so much. Two heart surgeries, a neck surgery, and now another neck surgery coming up. :( She's the strongest person I know, and she is truly my hero. Anyway, thanks a million for all your prayers, nothing is more important to me than that right now. I love you, and we'll definitely chat soon. I miss you to death!!!
:bighug:
TripperFan 09-25-2009, 10:48 PM I'm so sorry to hear this Brad. I swear spinal pain has to be the WORST of them all. Because the spine supports your entire body, the pain just goes throughout your whole body and it ends up affecting just everything. I'll pray as hard as I can that they can give her some relief safely and hopefully she'll get disability. There's no way she should be working at that type of job under those kinds of ailments and pain.
Prayers for you, your mom and your whole family. :bighug:
Elvis Fonzie Dean 09-26-2009, 03:33 PM Hope she gets better:).
Wreckless 10-12-2009, 09:53 AM I talked to Brad today. His mom is going in for surgery today. He said he would be back on tonight. I wish her the best of luck, and speedy recovery, and I told him that she would do great! :). If you could, anybody that sees this- could you please send a quick prayor today for Brad & his mom?
Thanks, from mine, his mom and Brad's hearts :).
Chocoholic 10-12-2009, 01:39 PM I pray for her speedy recovery :)
Theda Bara 10-13-2009, 12:19 AM Brad,
You know how much your mom means to me. I prayed for her earlier, while I was at the beach. She is always in my prayers. I love the both of you, very much=)
beautifuldreamer 10-13-2009, 01:27 AM Brad, I said a prayer for your mom, right before I went into Biology class (right before noon)... then during Biology lol, then one again after as well. I'm hoping everything turned out just fine. Your mom sounds like an incredibly awesome woman from what you've told me. :D
~Praying for the best~
LuLu Rogers 10-13-2009, 01:29 AM I said it on Facebook, but it bears repeating, I'm praying for you guys!! Stay Strong!! :bighug:
Brad Russ 10-13-2009, 08:53 PM First of all I want to let everyone know that the surgery went great, and my mom came home today, and has the next three weeks off. :) Thank you so much Kyle for the chat two days ago, and for helping to comfort me, and calm me down with your kind words!!! Thank you also for bringing this thread back up, for asking others to pray, and just for being such a good friend, and an amazing person. You have a huge heart, and I noticed that from the first time we chatted, and you showed me through this thread, and through our your chat that your heart is even bigger than I imagined!!! Thank you Kristen, Tara, Mattie, Lauren, and everyone else for your continued prayers. I know they did great things for my mom, and she wanted to thank you all as well. Before her surgery, I was bringing up everyone who was praying for her, and giving her a little background of many of you. I wanted her to know that people of all ages, and backgrounds were praying for her. I think she was touched most when I mentioned the younger people who were praying for her. She was touched that people in their teens, and early 20's would in her words care about some old, broken down lady such as herself. As I said, those were her words, not mine. I definitely don't see her in that light.
To Tara, my mom is absolutely crazy about you as well, and is always asking about you. I asked her before we left, Do you have the St. Patrick's pendant that Tara brought with her when she had her surgery, and she said, are you kiddingme, it's in my pocket. There's no way I'd forget that. She's going to treasure that for the rest of her life, and I know I told you this before, but I will always be touched beyond words that you gave something to her that meant so much to you!!! Whenever I think that there's nothing more Tara can do to show me more of what a special person she is, but then you do something like that, that makes me love you even more. Damn I love you girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And lastly, to Mattie, yes, the stories of my mom's magnificence is true, infact words can never even come close to showing what an amazing woman she is. I can't even tell you how many of my brother's friends love her so much, and 80% of them call her mom. :D My bro even has a friend who is a model, and an MMA fighter, and everytime he sees her, he lights up, gives her a huge hug, and says hi mom!!! She's just amazing, and I hope that both you and Tara get the chance to meet her in person someday. ;) And thanks so much Mattie for your constant prayers for my mom. I always know that I can count on you, because like Tara, you have a heart of gold!!!!!!!!!! I've said it a million times, but you can have the most visibly beautiful woman on the planet, but if she has a bad heart, her outer beauty means nothing to me, and she becomes the absolute ugliest person in the world to me. You, Tara, and Janice are different though, you are three of the most beautiful women in the world, but your inner beauty makes you 100 times more attracive. What you've guys' along with many other members here have big hearts, and that's why I will always do everything I can to hang onto you with all my strength. I hope to always have you three Angels in my life!!!!!!! Anyway, thanks again to everyone who prayed for my mom. I TRULY love all of you!!!!!!!!
:bighug:
steevo 10-13-2009, 09:06 PM Brad, I haven't been on this board much in awhile, but I am glad your mom is going to be OK. I will continue to pray for both of you.
Brad Russ 10-13-2009, 10:26 PM Brad, I haven't been on this board much in awhile, but I am glad your mom is going to be OK. I will continue to pray for both of you.
Thank you so much Steevo, and please don't feel bad about not being around much. I myself haven't been around much. Sometimes our real lives just get so hectic and crazy, and we need to take breaks from the online world, in order to deal with the real world. I know I've said this alot so I won't say it again, I'll say something new regarding your prayers. Your prayers, and your continued prayers is the exact thing my mom needs the most right now, and words don't even do it justice. I just wish you all could see the impact you've made on both mine, and my mom's heart, then you would truly know how much it means. Hears my heart though. Now Just imagine it 100 times bigger, and with a million smiles in it, and it would give you a little better idea of what all your prayers mean to me. Thanks again my friend, your kind gestures will never be forgotten!!!
LuLu Rogers 10-13-2009, 10:38 PM I'm so glad that things went well!! I'm keeping you guys in my prayers! Your mom is precious and so are you!
Darren J. 10-13-2009, 10:43 PM Glad to hear everything went well, Brad. I wrote on your Facebook wall not too long ago, wishing you and your mom the best. Glad to hear she is okay.
Mr. Television 10-13-2009, 11:42 PM I'm glad to hear that everything went well Brad. Your Mom is in my prayers. :)
Pitooey 10-14-2009, 12:45 AM Glad to hear this good news Brad. It's nice to hear good news.
TripperFan 10-14-2009, 01:07 AM Brad, I haven't been on as much as I'd like myself lately, (including Facebook) but I am SO glad the surgery went well and she's on the road to recovery. It reminded me that my mom had to have neck surgery for a whiplash way back in the 70s. I'm sure you're mom will feel so much better once healed and hope you, and you're two fav gals are back bowling again (and I wanna know about the Donna "status" again - hehe)!!!
You and your mom are always in my thoughts and prayers and I truly believe people recover better when surrounded by lots of love, friends and family who care and you are one who has all that backing him up!
Big hugs and please keep us posted on her healing process and how you're doing :D
