I mean, Larry Miller was brought back to play Kat and Bianca's dad on the TV version of 10 Things I Hate About You (another 1990s era teen movie), so why couldn't the same be said for Mr. Hedaya? Plus, the producers were able to bring Wallace Shawn, Twink Caplan and Julie Brown back as the adult characters.

That would have been nice. I did watch Cluess as much as I could and I liked the fact that some of the originals from the movie were in the show. I did like the girl that played Cher, since I really couldn't see Alicia Silverstone reprising her role. I like Dan Hedaya. He played Monk's dad in one of my favorite episodes of Monk.

I have wondered about that too. I loved Dan as Mel in the movie. Maybe Dan didn't reprise his role for money reasons or maybe he didn't want to be in a teen show all the time.
