I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a shot.

The team has signed or claimed seven punters since the end of the 2008 season.

The latest one is Steve Weatherford, who was released by Jacksonville last weekend. He replaced A. J. Trapasso, who was seemingly with the Jets for a few hours. (Trapasso’s claim to fame was hitting the video board at the Cowboys’ new stadium.) The Jets also went through Glenn Pakulak, Reggie Hodges, Ken Parrish, Eric Wilbur, T .J. Conley.

According to the transaction list, Pakulak and Hodges were brought in twice and cut twice.

Meanwhile, the punter the Jets dropped in September 2008, Ben Graham, went on to become the first Australian to play in the Super Bowl. Graham punted for the Jets for three full seasons, and now Arizona seems to like him just fine. Crikey.

Extra point: The Jets are looking for a fan to suit up and lead the team out of the tunnel on Oct. 18 when Buffalo visits. The contest is part of the Jets’ second fan appreciation day. You can sign up at JointheJets.com Maybe you can ask the Jets for a punting tryout while you’re at it.

Why not? I'm looking for work. Though with my body frame, I might be better off as the goalpost.
