Movie Reviews: Gamer

Gamer was not screened for critics before it was released on Friday, and apparently few of them were willing to interrupt their Labor Day holiday to see it over the weekend, it appears.

Their reviews were predictable.

Joe Neumaier in the New York Daily News suggested that what was needed for this movie about a video game in which real humans can be controlled is "a fast-forward button."

Peter Hartlaub in the San Francisco Chronicle suggested that the film "uses too many quick-cut edits during the fight sequences but piles on enough action that you kind of get used to it."
He remarked that the movie "is almost instantly forgettable, but still kind of fun."

However, Glenn Whipp in the Los Angeles Times concluded: "Rarely have the words 'game over' come as such sweet relief."

Gamer looks wack but i wanna see Gerard's new movie Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx. It comes out October 16th. I like another movie he did with Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello. I forgot the name of it but it was pretty good. I also like the movie RockNRolla he did.

I actually want to see this sometime. Of course it's wack; it's made by the people behind the Crank films. It was a box office dud but i do like Butler and Michael C. Hall so I will see this when it comes to DVD.

Yes, I've seen the trailer for Law Abiding Citizen and it looks like something I want to see. I definitely will be checking that one out.

The movie you speak of with Pierce Brosnan is Butterfly on a Wheel (2007).

No that's not the name of the movie he did with Pierce Brosnan. I think it's called Shattered. He did another movie with Pierce?

Shattered was the name of the film's American release. It's original title in Canada is Butterfly on a Wheel. I should have mentioned that...

Actually, Butler appeared in Tomorrow Never Dies with Pierce but it was a minor role.
