LOL, I just seen this stupid a$$ commercial and I was like HUH??? This must be a commercial for teenagers because what grown person would cash a paycheck at Walmart.

Why pay 3 bucks when you can open a bank account and have it cashed for free(or direct deposited). My bank offers FREE checking and savings, and you don't have to keep a specific amount in either one(just enough to keep it from being closed)

And then after you pay the $3.00, they want you to spend another $20.00 on food-lol So basically Walmart is trying to get a large piece of a person check everytime they get paid-lol

Actually, some people can not get bank accounts - for one reason or another (usually it's because they overdrew their account and never paid it back) so Walmart's really their only alternative.

Another reason people might be cashing checks at Wal-Mart or other convienent stores is because some people who are on prohbation or paroled from prison can't have bank accounts for a certain amount of time. I knew a guy in college who worked at a Circle K that did check cashing and he was advised by a manager to be a bit careful when people ask to cash checks because most of them are ex-cons.

People can cash their payroll checks at the grocery store that I work at. There is a check cashing fee, but I don't know what it is. Since store employees don't have to pay the fee I cash my checks there sometimes. If I had to pay a fee I probably wouldn't though.

Some people can't get bank accounts because their not U.S. citizens, although I believe many such individuals are paid in cash by their employers.

Yes. Most places won't even cash your check without at least a photo ID, tho some places want a second form, such as a major credit card.

Three bucks is not bad at all in comparison to some of the check cashing places in New York that can charge as much as $15.00.
